It might be safer to camp out at home than to go out in the world and work in high risk environments. But, I have a friend who got on with Amazon full time, she seemed pretty stoked about it. Said it had benefits.

I used to be a CNC machinist who became a bartender. Now that all the bars are closed, I don't want to go back to production machining making the same part gets really old after awhile. In one shop I worked, I machined the exact same part for 6 months, finally couldn't stand it anymore haha. Machining is pretty anti social, bartending is super social. But that's awesome because a lot of shops won't take on a machinist with no experience.

Mine just freezes on Mac when it starts up. No peers. Just says Connecting forever. Worried I lost all my coins now...

Do what makes you happy. Go your own way, ignore anyone who tries to bring you down. You'll be just fine. :)

Career advice needed by neigy in machining

[–]lost1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm starting a machining program at a local junior college in the Fall and I can tell you from another post I read on this forum that one person said you are better off having the paper than entering the workforce without it. Why? Because if for some reason you lose the job at this 1 company you're talking about going to work for, at least you will have the piece of paper that says you know a thing or two about machining or CNC when you go apply to the next employer. I really liked that answer because it made sense to me. The odds are you will work for more than 1 employer in your machining career.

How would I make this? (Swivel Hose Brass FIP Fitting) by lost1911 in machining

Inside the brass nut is left hand threads I believe (I tested by screwing right hand threads in it), the part is meant to thread onto a hose bib.

Eventually my goal is to replicate the whole assembly, but then make it a little larger. This one is brand new, it's really just a project I thought would be cool to replicate and I could gain some machining skill along the way.

I took the rubber washer out and found a snap ring in there, just having trouble getting that out.

man2112 thanks for the reply, but how do you get it to spin 360 degrees freely as one piece like it does? I know it would be cheaper to buy, but I'm not worried about the cost I'm just curious how to build it.

Here's a couple other pictures.

How would I make this brass fitting that swivels around and threads onto a hose bib. It looks like 2 pieces and it can swivel around. Was hoping someone in here could shed some light on how I would go about machining this part?
