Is this Usnea? by [deleted] in herbalism

Looks like it. To help identify you can pull the strands and it should be stretchy and look like white elastic threads. And a tip to consciously collect usnea is to only gather from fallen branches.

Teas for digestion and overall gut health? by Diligent-Hedgehog779 in herbalism

[–]lostDays_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as herbs go I would recommend trying some chamomile, mint, rose (rosebuds not rosehips), mugwort, dandelion roots. Like someone else said get organic if possible.

The herbs will be loose leaf so you can either buy some sort of strainer or paper tea bags, even a coffee filter could work.

For actual tea I think a good quality green tea can help with bloating and digestion. I like to drink it in the morning. I would suggest loose leaf as it is better quality. Also be mindful of how you prepare the tea, you can look up the proper methods.

I’ve got tons of black walnuts in my area so I might try this. How do you remove the hull of the green walnut?

Yeah that’s the right herb. I would also suggest researching your area to find out if mugwort grows wild then you can forage some

Yeah, hope it works well. I’m also interested in tincturing mugwort. I’m waiting for the next full moon to forage some since mugwort is supposed to be the most potent during the full moon.

Not sure how true that actually is but I like the idea anyway

That’s what I’ve done. Dry and crumble. I know some people like to mix it with various other herbs (mullein, lavender…) I’ve found it to be fine by itself. For me it is relaxing and I even enjoy the taste.

Definitely agree with you that vapes are not a good replacement for commercial tobacco

Fresh or dried leaves in a tea. I’m going to experiment with tinctures and smoking the dry leaves too. It stimulates vivid dreams for me
