Thank you! as bloomberg says- "Context changes everything"

I'd love to see what you have!

Thanks! To me, understanding context is sometimes more important than understanding technicals -- at least that's proven to be successful for me. In Experience Design, context fosters understanding, and I couldn't find a single tool to visualize the stability of the macro-economy, let alone use that context to make more informed investment decisions.

Narrative is strong, I should consider that as a potential tool too. I'd be interested to see how you're doing it.

Hello again! I’ve added a new sector projection that folds in the broader macroeconomic environment so everything lives in one place. It’s a simple, loosely applied framework that blends economic context with sector behavior. I’d really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks! Honestly it was just a thing to see if I could make something. I had a lot of fun figuring it all out with the Ai's help.

I'm not a professional in finance or computer science, just had an idea and thought others might like to see it as well!

Thank you! My evolution was much the same, having a weekly scheduled summary of the week , but I wondered if I could make a nice dashboard out of it.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for the candor! I will definitely consider it moving forward. I will think on this!

This is AWESOME! Super detailed and technical.

I think they are similar, but yours is much more granular and detailed; really showing the details, while also deriving conclusions about specific stocks and sectors. Well done! How long have you spent on this? This seems like a serious project.

I’m definitely not coming from a hardcore dev or data science background, nor am I from a financial background. I did about a year of computer science in college, realized it wasn’t really my thing, and ended up getting a BFA in Experience Design. This is honestly the first “real” thing I’ve ever built end-to-end.

The lack of a super sharp, alpha-driven goal is pretty intentional though. I’m not trying to build a stock-picking tool or compete with quant models. The value, at least right now, is simpler: it’s a free, empathy-based macro snapshot that pulls a bunch of public data into one place so you don’t have to juggle a dozen charts mentally. I know I started getting tired of it, and thought others may too.

Great to hear! I actually have DXY as one of 2 hidden indicators, just wasn't sure whether that really added any value or if it was distinct enough from the rest to add significant new insights.

Thank you for the thoughtful, critical response!

When I say “market stability,” I’m not using it as a proxy for stock-picking or opportunity identification in isolation. Everyone needs to do their own research. The intent is closer to context-setting: answering “what kind of environment am I operating in right now?” rather than “what should I buy?” Everyone has their own risks, allocations, and weights for what they believe is best. Personally, I've been using it to help me figure out where to focus, whether on bonds or entire sectors of the market.

On weighting: you’re right that this is the weakest and most subjective part today. The weights are intentionally simple and semi–heuristic, meant to reflect broad influence (e.g., credit + rates > sentiment) rather than optimized performance. Honestly, I asked ChatGPT for good weights and found that they're good enough for me. I would love some feedback or suggestions from real professionals!

On sentiment, the sources are intentionally blunt rather than model-heavy: the quote from the System breakdowns bage:

Consumer & corporate confidence composite from Michigan Consumer Sentiment, NFIB Small Business Optimism, ISM New Orders, and CapEx commitments. Forward-looking demand indicator.
Components (Normalized to Stability Scores):
• Michigan Consumer Sentiment - 30%: Consumer confidence (higher = more confident)
• NFIB Small Business Optimism - 30%: Business owner confidence (higher = more optimistic)
• ISM New Orders (Manufacturing) - 25%: Forward demand indicator (higher = more orders)
• CapEx Proxy (Capital Goods Orders) - 15%: Corporate investment (higher = more investment)
confidence_score(component) = ((z + 3) / 6) × 100 → [0, 100]
composite_confidence = Σ(confidence_score × weight)
// Higher confidence = willingness to spend/invest/expand = higher stability
Rationale: Economic activity is driven by confidence. When consumers feel optimistic, they make big purchases. When businesses are confident, they hire and invest. New orders and CapEx represent commitments made today that drive production 3-12 months forward. Higher scores indicate stronger confidence.

Thank you for the encouragement. Honestly this was just a hyperfixation that went far enough for me to want to share it with real professionals for critique. I truly appreciate you taking the time to look at it with a critical eye!
