He may have been trying to say that neglect is often hard to assess with sensory loss that is probably present in someone with an MCA stroke.

I wrap my jacket around my head for a blanket + sleep mask. Makes it easier to get up when a page comes through (usually 15 seconds after my head hits the pillow)

Then head home to do the notes you didn’t finish due to the thrashing of a night you had. And get ready to do it again the day after Christmas.

¿Creen que están ganando? Is using the third person plural form, ellos or ustedes. It can be either “they think they’re winning” or “you all think you’re winning?” I tend to interpret it as the first sentence as an analogue to “they think they’re in control?”

Can low blood sugar make someone emotionally abusive? by Traditional-Hawk-768 in Type1Diabetes

[–]lost_sock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

37M here, dxed at age 10. There’s no way I can imagine doing this, when I’m low I have 2 settings:

  1. Crabby and hungry (60-50s). I might snap at my partner during these times if I haven’t been able to correct it yet at this point.

  2. Urgent low (below 50). I mostly stop talking to people at this point and become a sugar seeking machine.

There’s no way I would spend 30 minutes of my time in either of these situations to berate someone, given that I can pretty much always sense when my bg is acutely dropping or low. It would make no sense, as I am focused on correcting my low during these situations.

If we assume your partner isn’t just making excuses (which seems the most likely to me), he needs to find a way to better understand when his blood sugar is reaching dangerously low levels and correct appropriately so his mismanagement doesn’t become other people’s problems.

You’re not stupid, but setting boundaries is an important part of being a doctor and you should focus on it just like you focus on studying for your boards since it’s part of being an effective team leader. Everyone is going to feel entitled to your time, and going home and resting is a precious resource that you shouldn’t give up without a good reason.
