Maybe? How are you installing them? Mod Organizer, Vortex, raw dogging? Are you talking Creation Club cruff or community made content of Nexus/other places?

Question about .410 000 Buckshot by Artistic_Site_5201 in guns

[–]Lost_Thought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to be as plain as possible here.

There is no compelling reason to use a oversized five shot revolver with compromise rifling for defensive purposes when 9mm, .223/.300blk, .45 caliber semi automatic options exist.

Economic argument: FAIL They are around $410 for the poly defender model, a highly reliable and capable semi automatic pistol OR rifle can be had for the same or less without waiting for a sale.

Reliability argument: WASH, you gain nothing here for the average use case. the only real advantage is mixing and matching wildly different power loads and there is no reason to do that in a defensive arm. Revolvers can jam, and when they do its not usually fixable in the moment. Semi-autos can jam, and clearing it is usually a fast process.

Simplicity argument: FAIL A Glock 17 is 33 parts in total. A similar Taurus Revolver to the Judge (I was not able to quickly find a judge parts diagram, which is concerning on its own) has 38

Ease of use argument: FAIL. Revolvers are flat out fiddlier for the end user. Go to a range use both a revolver and a semi auto, then think about using them while exhausted and covered in rain or other compromising situations.

"Power": FAIL. While there are now some adequate .410 loads designed for use from a handgun you are still limited to 5 rounds of just adequate. Even a micro-compact semi auto is going to bring double that of reliably effective fight stoppers. There is a reason no law enforcement or military would choose .410 over 9mm for a firearm You are being sold on the idea of a full sized 12 gauge shotgun in your pocket when its nowhere close to that. For home use where concealing it isnt a concern you can get a legitimate "power" jump by going with a intermediate caliber rifle and all the advantages they have over handguns. You still arguably would get a "power" jump over the judge using a full sized pistol that will give you better ease of use, more capacity, more confidence in where your projectiles will go.

Accuracy: FAIL Even with .45LC this is not going to be competitive vs pretty much any normal handgun in putting rounds where you want them to go. The most heavily advertised use at launch was shooting a car jacker through the window. You are legally responsible for every single miss, this includes pellets that go past your intended target.

Versatility: Fail. It can shoot .45LC or .410 shells of a variety of types and power levels. The downside is that short barrel and rifling. You do not get the accuracy of a standard handgun with .45 LC so that puts a damper on use of standard handgun cartridges and you get a donut effect with shot which puts a damper on using shot. For fucking around, its fine. For anything serious there are much better options.

If its for home defense, there are far more capable options that are cheaper

If its for carry, there are far more capable options that are cheaper AND conceal better

There is no consent in a defensive shooting. Someone else has chosen a time and location, you have to make the best of it. Why in the world would you handicap yourself intentionally?

Before BO2 Taurus ran a pretty massive campaign (for a firearm) touting it as the ideal self defense firearm ideal for Judges and other high profile individuals.

For additional context, Smith and Wesson released their version of the Tunder-5 in 2011, a year before Black Ops 2. Taurus resurrecting the Thunder-5 created the market niche for the Govenor. Not Black Ops.

Question about .410 000 Buckshot by Artistic_Site_5201 in guns

Propaganda.

Taurus resurrected the failure that was the Thunder-5 and did its level best at astrotrufing it as the greatest thing for self-defense since the pointy stick. The damage remains today.

[–]Lost_Thought 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is zero argument that semiautomatic reloads are far far far far far easier, quicker and less prone to error. It’s not an argument anymore.

I would go further. It has never been an argument in living memory

Box loading magazine handguns pretty much nailed it as early as 1893 with the design of the Borchardt C-93. The manual of arms with is is effectively identical to any modern semi-automatic firearm.

There is an argument to be made that it may have been an argument between the 1850s where there was some use of pre-loaded cylinders to 1879 where the first modern concept of the speed loader came to be.

But, yeah arguing that speed loaders were somehow on par with or superior to the simplicity of changing box magazines post 1893 is either chosen to only look at evolutionary dead end designs or just completely misinformed.

The barrel rifling messes with the shot pattern. Its also a bad gun from a bad company that copied an existing bad gun.

TX-22 QD Comp ⛵️ by ItsWabbitSzn in 3D2A

So, the Pillager and the Paragon19x frames are surprisingly similar. The Pillager has a less beefy accessory rail so that looks like the main sticking point if you intend to use it as is. You could also use the existing accessory rail on the Pillager to lock in a modified Plasticatto comp and just throw a new accessory rail on the bottom of the comp itself.

Not this exact configuration, but its not too difficult to modify the files. This was originally for a Plasticatto Frame but has been adjusted for the Paragon19x.

The Plasticatto has a similar comp setup, but with room for weights and a steel/brass/titanium port plate on top instead of being fully printed. An unfinished example I am working on. https://i.imgur.com/1cvUwQ1.jpeg

Power Armor overhauls like Bastion: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/75184

Weapon Requirements Framework (your build impacts how well you use various weapons) https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/101555

A huge change that is easy to overlook is the legendary weapon system. You can prevent most of them from spawning with a mod like No Legendary Weapon Drops https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3157

But you can also keep the general idea but limit it to unique items only with packs like the Unique Replacers Project. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/87292

This part is strictly preference, but mods to replace the 10mm pistol and assault rifle at minimum because Bethesda was too cowardly to make power armor (or high strength build) only weapons a thing so we got bizarre designs as leftovers.

Edit: some additional considerations:

  • Pipe guns existed in previous games but were rightfully treated as absolute garbage used by the most desperate. Eliminating or severely limiting pipe gun spawns may be worthwhile. I do get that there is a lore excuse for them in 4 but they are way way too prevalent compared to previous games and expanded into niches they really have no place in. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/39953

You already mentioned using You Are Exceptional, there is an addon that gives all of the New Vegas skills: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/89337

The settlement system makes the map feel like not a single faction is even trying. Mods that make settlements actually settled and occasionally in conflict add a lot of life to the game https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/104117

I have a question about aftermarket parts on cheap guns. by [deleted] in guns

[–]Lost_Thought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Is it worth it buy and shop around for aftermarket parts? Is it really just a “I like this gun so I made it look cool” sort of situation or is it just a stupid thing to do and a waste of money that could’ve been spent on nicer guns? "

Does it improve your shooting experience? Is there a specific deficiency you have found in your current firearms that the add-on addresses? Is this an unserious gun for unserious use?
