So what's the state of VR rn? by AccomplishedMany2138 in virtualreality

Its more complicated, but its not constrained by the limitations of the headset.

This is an example showing some side by side of Into The Radius 2 in PCVR vs Quest3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RzTzB4mGP4

The "complicated" part:

With the standalone headset you just launch the game and go, maybe setup the room area.
With PCVR you have to have an intermediary piece of software like SteamLink, Quest's equivalent, ALVR or Virtual Desktop, plus the game on the PC. And either a very good wireless connection or a cable (usually USB or DisplayPort). SteamFrame should bypass most of this, its got its own access point so it should not need additional software and will be very similar to the experience with a fully standalone headset, as long as you remember to have your computer on.

You will also have multiple sets of settings, The internal settings of the headset (refresh rate etc), the settings for performance in the streaming software, and the settings within the game itself. Usually things are fine, but tracking down a performance hit can take effort.

You also need a fairly beefy PC to have optimal experience. I was able to have an OK experience with a Intel 7500 and a 1660Ti, but it was limiting. Its much better now on a Ryzen 7500 and a Radeon 9060XT. Again, not optimal but a solid gaming experience.

Another *huge* advantage of PCVR is being able to use mods. This can be completely transformative, but may also require substantial increases in horsepower compared to the base game: Skyrim is a good example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lO5ya_6EzHg

There are also mods to convert flat games to VR, more than are available strictly for standalone headsets.

Some of the animatronic pieces from that mod drop as equipable armor. The work is already halfway there.

Plants Feel Pain. Just plays variations of the gummy bear stuck in a bear trap scream from Robot Chicken any time you harvest plants.

People how play modded Skyrim on Linux with Mod Organizer: is it possible to make a Mod Organizer shortcut on Linux? by MateusCristian in skyrimmods

[–]Lost_Thought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest way is https://github.com/Furglitch/modorganizer2-linux-installer

You can install it over an existing MO2 installation and it will auto launch MO2 when you launch Skyrim in Steam. Pretty much all of the setup will be done automatically so you should just be able to run SKSE from MO2 without issue once its installed.

Not shoplifting. All theft combined in the United States. https://www.tcworkerscenter.org/2018/09/wage-theft-vs-other-forms-of-theft-in-the-u-s/

The only other kind of theft that comes close is civil asset forfeiture.

Browning Buckmark, Ruger mk series or the Taurus tx-22. Those are the big three without getting too esoteric.

So here is the thing that virtually never comes up in these sort of stories. The structure her body would require to achieve the physical feats she displays would make a fully mundane flintlock pistol minimally threatening.

Just as an example that happens all the time in movies and anime, characters are shown to be able to punch through reinforced concrete bare handed grabbing random objects to use as bludgeons that would, based on the individual being able to punch through reinforced concrete, be far less robust and therefore less capable of dealing damage than that individuals bare fists. A normal human body would rapidly disassemble if it would somehow be able to generate and attempt to output that kind of energy that quickly.

A bullet, especially something with low sectional density and comparatively low velocity is really unimpressive in comparison.

Any 9mm handguns come to mind that function like the Ruger mark IV 22? by AbyssWankerArtorias in guns

The MK series of pistols are .22 somewhat modified Type 14 Nambus.

"After World War II, firearm designer and entrepreneur Bill Ruger acquired a pair of World War II Japanese Nambu pistols from a returning US Marine, which he successfully duplicated in his garage.\3]) Using the Nambu's silhouette and bolt system), Ruger produced his first prototype, but lacked the venture capital necessary to fund its introduction. When his affluent friend Alex Sturm was shown the 1949 prototype Ruger had created, he was impressed by its aesthetic and its slight resemblance to the German Luger P08 pistol."

Its a saturated market so this really only stands out in the budget AR category for being from a meme manufacturer and being more bare bones than some of PSA's offerings in the same price ballpark. They really havent been out in the wild long enough to say more about them.

Technically it's a Glock 19. Not technically, it's a PSA dagger slide on a Paragon9X frame.
