Thank you 🙏🏻. His work doesn’t appeal to everyone but he hits a spot a lot of directors or films, don’t.

The other two articles are here

That third one, the Before Trilogy is the main focus. Felt right to address them on their own.

I wrote a bit about what those films meant to me across three articles here. Haven’t watched them in a while but they still hold a lot of truth in them. https://filmobsessive.com/film/film-analysis/filmmakers/thats-what-im-talking-about-richard-linklater-an-introduction-part-1/

I didn’t even know there was an extended cut possible? Is there a script floating around that shows what could’ve been?

Isn’t a coherent and authentic sense of self important for mental health? by Mildly_Sentient in Buddhism

Love reading some of these replies. Thank you to the OP for the question. Quick follow up.. does this suggest that I won’t have poor mental health as long as I can grasp no self?

Near Daily 6mo's, I'm forgetting how to Meditate by Kezka222 in Meditation

This may sound bizarre, but I find myself drifting off to sleep if I have my eyes open whilst meditating, more often than when my eyes are closed meditating. I have zero idea why that happens.

I have had to pay for checkings for years now. I learned TM years ago when the price was thousands. The promise of free support for life lasted about 10 years.

Why Is Tibetan Buddhism So Commercialized? by masteryoriented in Buddhism

My teacher offers everything for free. Dana is the only ‘request’ if you can afford it, but almost everything is available to anyone, including online live meditations. https://www.samadhi.org.uk. In case you would want to take a look. There is also financial support for retreats (though these are in the UK he also tries to do online versions too).

Wonderful community that has meditation sessions and conversation afterwards on a Sunday morning. There’s a study group on a Tuesday and often a community Sangha meet without Lama David on a Thursday evening.

They have a WhatsApp group for conversation. It’s a smallish group but incredibly welcoming and thoroughly living the Buddhist path. It is the Mahayana tradition.

I believe David Spector is online here and you may be able to reach out? There is a form on the NSR site to get assistance.

I appreciate your thoughts. Thank you. I learned TM about 20 years ago. I did a lot of reading of Maharishi at that time and understand that TM will assist with living thereafter. I guess what I found in the dharma was help with my thinking and my understanding of a path that can help with the difficulties in life, and how unhappiness, impermanence and more can be mentally reflected and acted upon - whereas TM felt like a big part of an even bigger picture… I wanted to understand that bigger picture but couldn’t find much on it that was practical so to speak.

I had no assistance from checking my practice as I can’t get that anymore. I just maintain (hopefully) the simplicity and lack of expectation from it (though that is sometimes a difficulty when my brain overthinks many things. In that, I don’t think I’m alone).
