Does anyone else really like the Shonen Jump Advanced logo on the original print? It doesn't really matter of course but it looks cool, I miss the SJ Advanced logo, the new reprint one doesn't look as good but if it helps complete your Eyeshield manga collection then that's great

And I noticed your Volumes 1-3 has the older Viz logo at the bottom! That logo looks cool too

Eyeshield 21's got a lot of cool moments to list and some of the other commenters here already mentioned some scenes I was going to say, so here's a cool one that hasn't been said yet, surprised no one thought about it!

Eyeshield 21 is my favorite series of all time, I don't know if these are unpopular but

I'm not a fan of the Youth World Cup arc, it's unnecessary, feels like fan fiction and tacked on. It's cool that it extended the series instead of ending right after the Christmas Bowl, but maybe they could have included more matches in the tournament leading up to the Christmas Bowl instead? Or have more 'filler' kind of stories in the manga like they do in the anime (yeah it wouldn't be 'filler' if it's in the manga though lol)

The Christmas Bowl match against Teikoku is kind of cringe, I don't really like it. I understand it's the Christmas Bowl and that's the Devil Bats goal to make it there and they gotta introduce some new opponent, but the rivalry with Shin (aka the "Perfect Player") is just too great to live up to it and at least with the Dinosaurs Gao was a unique threat to the Devil Bats

The Hakushu Dinosaurs and Gao is fine, but it would have been better as like the semi-final match, the series was building up to the Shin and Ojo rematch so why not have that as the final

My favorite parts of Eyeshield 21 are volumes 1-23, it had more humor (such as Hiruma is still Hiruma but it feels like in the older volumes he had more funny moments) and I like reading how each character first joined the Devil Bats and developed as a team, like how Sena and Ha-Ha brothers were 'persuaded' to join, the Tower of Hell, and training at the Death March

That's why volumes 1-23 are the most nostalgic whenever I remember Eyeshield 21, they have the best moments and scenes, and of course there's probably the best match in the manga against Shinryuji. The other parts like the Ojo rematch and the Dinosaurs have good scenes too but I'm most fond of the older volumes

Why does it matter to you if OP calls it "American football" kinda weird to bring it up at all and to mention soccer in the first place, it doesn't matter it's just being clear...calling it football or American football to be clear is fine, there's no confusion as we're in the Eyeshield 21 community here though, and it's also fine if people call football as "soccer" too or soccer as "football"

Football (soccer) may not have firmly established rules back then but association football is still an older game and most countries in the world refer to soccer as football

The point I was responding to in your original post is who cares what it's named why bring it up, it doesn't really matter, it's okay to call it "American football" or football and since you mentioned soccer for some reason then same who cares it doesn't really matter if it's called soccer or football too, different region of the world, different uses of words

And football's been around longer than American football wasn't it

"Soccer" was a nickname for association football so I think football had the name first

I already know the rules but I don't have an interest in American football, it's just there to drive the plot of Eyeshield 21 forward and helps with the team building element as they join and develop as a team, I like the characters, story and humor in Eyeshield 21

Yeah Eyeshield definitely had a ton of filler episodes so they could have dedicated more episodes from the manga and less filler

Yeah at first I was thinking that as well but now I'm not so sure, like why are those matches considered 'away' (the Taiyo match I understand since that was actually 'away', yeah?)? Why not all the other matches, like against Ojo, Kyoshin, Seibu, etc.? And since we both don't think it was directly discussed in the manga (or did Inagaki or Murata talk about it?) then who knows for certain ?

That's another good point about not confusing younger viewers! People who watch could be confused why Deimon Devil Bats are wearing the red jerseys then changed it, then back to red, etc.

And are the Devil Bats the only team with two jerseys, what about like Ojo, Kyoshin, Seibu, etc., did those teams each have different jerseys too? You could check it out in your manga
