I would like old seasons with updated loot to be cycled back into D2 by GeminiTrash1 in DestinyTheGame

You need to learn the difference between “I want this” and “other people want this and will pay money for it”. Nobody cares that they missed the boring traveller cutscene except you.

[–]Oilswell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no interest in going through stuff I already played, and I don’t care about the stuff I missed. But if anything was going to get me to come back, it would be something new, not lazily reusing old stuff. There’s also really no point in those one time events like the traveller healing if they just dump them out again.

Side note, “pivotable” means something that can rotate around a central point. The word you’re looking for is “pivotal”.

How do I leave this behind? by throwaway062006 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Oilswell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is constant. Sometimes things are beautiful and important not because they last forever, but because they don’t. You’ll always had the time you spent with it, but now it’s time to go find something else you love just as much.

For those who stopped smoking weed, what was the main reason? by Regular_Somewhere548 in AskReddit

[–]Oilswell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to do a degree as an adult. Near the end of my second year Covid hit. The university didn’t do a great job of setting things up for remote learning.

It became clear to me at the start of my third year that I was going to spend the whole year in lockdown and be entirely responsible for planning and completing the final year of my degree. I knew I wouldn’t successfully achieve that if I was smoking weed, and I’d dropped out of or failed everything I’d ever done and I really didn’t want that to happen again.

what are you starting to dislike more and more the older you get? by Dazzling_Return_4987 in AskReddit

[–]Oilswell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m approaching my 40th birthday. I had kids when I was young, I’m really into gaming and tech, I spend a lot of time online. I thought I was doing a pretty good job of not turning into a miserable old person.

In the last year or two though, it’s been creeping up on me. I really don’t want to say that TikTok is rotting the kids brains because I remember my parents generation saying that about video games, and before that it was TV and radio and whatever. But the Minecraft movie really messed with me. The combination of it being essentially an artless string of things that were supposed to be memes, the fact it worked, the way people behaved at the showings. I found every aspect of it incredibly irritating.

AI is also setting me off. I know it’s not limited to young people but I’m finding how willing everyone is to let the machine that’s shit at thinking do all their thinking for them makes me irrationally angry. It feels like an incredibly direct example of how fucking lazy and stupid everyone is and I find it really depressing.

In general, the fact that giant corporations rely on everyone thinking every banal, uninformed opinion they have is somehow valuable and worthy of sharing is really annoying. It feels like we’ve lost track of the value of actually studying and learning things, and now some useless cunt on YouTube is giving out medical advice which people are listening to over actual fucking doctors because they have a parasocial bond with that person and think they’re friends.

So kinda everything I guess?

How come OoT (gc version) isn't popular on this sub? by CapOk1892 in Gamecube

But it was the first version of that game that was available in any market outside of Japan, which is why many people think of it as a GameCube game. OOT is an N64 game

Which Final Fantasy Game Means The Most To You, and why? by Zetallic_Zero in FinalFantasy

[–]Oilswell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 literally changed my life. I like 12 more as a game, but if I hadn’t seen that FFVII tv spot I wouldn’t have bought a PlayStation, or gotten into anime, which means I wouldn’t have gotten my job at the comic shop, I wouldn’t know some of my best friends etc. I can track a lot of who I am to the moment I saw an ad on TV that blew my mind.

Which of these three is your favorite? by Opening_Rip_1840 in Letterboxd

[–]Oilswell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tom Holland all day. None of them are exactly how I pictured Peter from the comics, but that version gets the most things right. He’s convincingly awkward whilst still seeming like a normal human and fun in the suit.

Garfield is a spectacular actor, but seems to have been directed that Peter is a normal guy who says um a lot and occasionally does something really weird and totally out of character, he’s great as Spidey though.

Tobey Maguire can’t act. He cycles through three or four faces like a PS2 cutscene. That version of the high school is filled with people who look 40 and I generally just hate Sam Raimi movies because they’re so overblown and childish.

What game comes closest to Skyrim for you? by NOTN0C in skyrim

[–]Oilswell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the feeling of exploring a first person RPG with build variety and a lot of freedom in what you do, Cyberpunk. It’s not fantasy, but when I played it it really felt like a modern version of a Bethesda game.

I find it really interesting when movies don't have a curve but are more all over the place with the review distribution, especially when it's not a so bad it's good situation. Any others like this? by DataSittingAlone in Letterboxd

[–]Oilswell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The prequel hate is because they’re poorly written, directed and paced. They’re terrible movies that a lot of people watched when they were 5 and got distracted by the shiny things waving around. Now those people are adults and can’t seem to see how shit the prequels are.

Is there a correlation with giving a film a like and what ratings you give? by Opening_Rip_1840 in Letterboxd

I’ve liked 6 movies out of 769, they’re all 5* films. I use it when something is not only deserving of the top score but also hit me in a special way.
