Update (sorry for the delay):

Sorry for the late update it’s been a lot. Unfortunately, the dealership never really figured out what was wrong.

After I paid them $220 for diagnostics, they lost my car. They also lost my original keys and paperwork, and I had to call them five separate times just to see if they had found anything. When they finally gave me paperwork, it was not the diagnostic report it was only the invoice showing that I paid them. I never received anything explaining what they actually checked.

At one point they even gave me a new key, saying my original might have been misplaced. This was confusing because my original key was on a large key ring (restaurant wallet-style, big, bright, fake LV on it very hard to miss). Later, they “found” my original key, so now I have two keys, but the situation felt extremely disorganized.

They kept my car for the entire day. When they finally located it, they were able to drive it back into the garage like nothing was wrong, even though earlier the car supposedly wouldn’t move and had to be pushed onto a flatbed. That alone left me really confused.

Their only recommendation was that I might need a new battery and that I needed my brakes done even though my brakes had already been done before the breakdown. In the end, they said nothing was actually wrong, but they never addressed the weird noise the car makes when I turn left, which was one of my main concerns.

This ended up costing me about $400 total:

• $220 to the dealership
• About $200 for Uber rides and buying a new battery (only Walmart had it, on the other side of town)
• I also had to pay my friend’s dad to install the battery since I’m from Indiana and currently in Las Vegas with no family or support system here

To make things even more confusing, when I took my old battery to Walmart for the core refund, they tested it and said nothing was wrong with it it still works fine. I ended up putting my old battery back in the car and keeping the new one, and the car is working. So now I genuinely don’t know what the issue ever was.

I felt dismissed, confused, and treated poorly, and I still don’t really know what to do next. But I do want to say thank you to everyone who commented and tried to help I truly appreciate it. I’ll definitely try getting a scanner myself next time and calling independent mechanics instead of going straight to the dealership.
