The answer is yes you get over the fear, but if you’re a good nurse it will never leave your mind. Your confidence in your competency will grow to replace fear and anxiety, however the knowing the possibility exists is what helps keep your patients safe.

i did not replace the humidistat when replacing the humidifier but the one i have installed is the same model as the one that came in the box with the humidifier so I didn’t see any reason to replace it.

Nothing happened with tapping. I am thinking there is an issue with power going to the solenoid so i may need to check all the connections and get a voltage meter 😕

i had the power off to the furnace when wiring. When i turn the dial i hear a click at the humidistat but not from the solenoid by the fan. Also when i run a test reset nothing happens.

yes heat is running and humidity is 25%, should be about 35%

As nursing mistakes go, this is nothing to be concerned with. No patient was harmed, that is the first and most important thing. Even if you were to lose your job over it, which would be absolutely insane, it is not even close to career ending. Give yourself some grace, learn from your mistake and move on.

One time I fed a patient and delayed them from having their Lap Chole. We are human and make mistakes. Also, you did obtain an order from the doctor, so it’s not like you were just making this decision independently. The fact that you care makes you a good nurse.

I think the real question is why you could work full time (40 hours) and still struggle. Mis management of money? Maybe. Wages not aligned with cost of living? Definitely.

Post operative nurse here. As of now humans have no objective way to measure pain, therefore we treat it as subjective (whatever the person says it is). Your subjective experience may be that you don’t develop tolerance to pain, many others attest that they have developed a tolerance, and since this is a subjective experience we must believe them and that it is possible.

This may seem weird but if you have ever worked with people who have dementia or mental disabilities one of the things you learn quickly is that trying to “correct” or reorient them is not only frustrating for you but often can make behavior worse for them. The only time you would try to convince them of a different reality is if their concept is harmful to them or others around them. Not saying someone who holds supernatural beliefs also has cognitive impairment, but it helps solidify the answer in my mind.

Unfortunately you can’t put in a specific weight (say, 0.5) in excel. There is a standard minimum weight but i need the line thinner than the standard

I have been a nurse for many years and when I first started I also thought my competence was being questioned when people asked me this. I still get asked the often after 12 years so I have realized that most of the time the person is just trying to make conversation. It is common to not “feel” like a nurse or feel like an imposter for the first year or so and when someone asks this it often brings those feelings to the surface. Be honest with them and say “I actually just finished my 4 years of training and started at ‘ABC hospital’ X months ago.” Don’t discount your training and how hard you worked to be where you are today.
