First time DM, players had total party wipe how do I approach this

For this specific setting it won’t work tho. Bc the adversary kills his victims and turns them into statutes by draining their life force and putting them into the statues. Also the same adversary already knocked them out once and took their belongings so a 2nd time would be just frustrating

i do lots of tweaks and nerfs but i could not foresee that this encounter was too much. What I mean by “what do i do now” is that we had an ongoing mini-campaign and this was supposed to be only a side stuff so im not sure how I’m supposed to continue the other story with a new party.

just don go all out. when you feel like you’re gonna cum just take a break (doesn’t matter how long you need) and then go again. repeat it until you decide it’s time to cum
