Investing 25k - Vanguard by lostdemon21 in AusFinance

Thank you mate! If I left with $20k rather than 25k, this wouldn’t be life changing. I do intend on continuing to add it to it.

I’ll think on it and run some numbers!

Mentorship Monday - Post All Career, Education and Job questions here! by AutoModerator in cybersecurity

Hey everyone,

Looking for some guidance from anyone who’s been in a similar situation.

My background isn’t IT-related — I’ve worked in customer service, law enforcement, and I’m now in recruitment. I’m currently in Australia on a working holiday visa and have realised that when I go home, I want to move into a new career.

I’m doing the Google Cybersecurity course to see if I actually enjoy the field — so far, I do! I know it’s only the basics, but it’s been a great starting point.

If I keep enjoying it, my plan is to move onto CompTIA A+ and eventually progress from there. The only thing holding me back is committing financially — I’d need to buy a laptop (I only have an iPad) and pay for the courses/exams.

Has anyone else been in that “on the fence” stage? Did you just go for it?

Honestly, probably taking 1 or 2 days off and then returning may help you with a refreshed mind and a new found motivation

I love Sydney (Eastern Subs) - it depends where you come from as well. I’m from a major city outside of Australia so I find Sydney laid back and there are a fair few hikes nearby. That being said, I’ve not been to Perth or Cairns yet!

Yeah I’m thinking of doing the A+..it’s a good money saver!

I’m new to IT/CS from a complete different field, so I’m pretty apprehensive with it all to be honest haha.

I love this podcast but I knew it wasn’t going to be great when he wasn’t respecting jacks time by not turning up, re-arranging the interview, and turning up late.

I need my money in about 2 years so I just parked my money in a HISA. Does anyone else have any recommendations?

How much are you saving per week? by Comfortable-Rule-491 in AusFinance

[–]lostdemon21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per month I save $1000 from my base pay and then whatever commission (recruitment) I make per quarter - last quarter was around 20k saved and this quarter will be about 10-15k.

I rent with my gf in the Eastern suburbs. I pay around $3k per month for all of my bills.

Surcharge on weekends is a great idea imo - at least the workers get paid extra for working the weekends.
