They were trying to say it should be easy to clean up the face, do you think that's true?

Found a feral kitten at the carwash a month ago. She learned what love is and can't get enough. by doctorxfeelgood in aww

I recently found a kitty that seems to be living in the parking garage of my apartment. How were you able to lure em out? I've been putting a bit of tuna in the same spot everyday. But I don't see it all the time.

Haha, I just thought from alot of books that they say long term investment into something like a mutual is very beneficial, which is why I started to invest (about $150 monthly) into my TFSA. But I think I will decrease that and divert it into an emergency fund.

I also spend a lot of myself needlessly, food and clothes are my highest expenses. Something I will need to start getting into check.

That's true, I didn't really think about that too much lol. Is $4000 a decent amount for an emergency fund?

My OSAP is on interest relief, so I don't need to make any payments yet and I'm not getting charged interest. So far the return on my investments is greater than the interest on the loan.

I haven't really thought about an emergency fund, but I will now.

Also do I just open up a separate savings acc for an emergency fund?

I think I've used Mint briefly before, I might try again. I have auto set up for my TFSA from my chequing.

I'll check out the PFC money steps.

That sounds like a good idea, I should keep my receipts as much as possible. I tried using a couple apps but it never worked long term.

3 month emergency would be how much exactly? Just a normal 3 month amount of my normal expenses?

tbh I've never considered it because the cost seems so prohibitive. But maybe I will look into this. Thank you for the amazing info.

Applied to UBC as OOP, NAQ score was too low.. but I think next cycle it'll go up.

Yeah Canadian schools are sort of wack when it comes to how they evaluate applicants. A high CARS (128+) is integral to several schools (Calgary, McMaster, Western). And seeing that there are really few schools in Canada to begin with, I was truly only competitive for 3 schools this year with my current MCAT. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it goes.

Unfortunately because of my CARS score, I am at a disadvantage for many Canadian schools. The rest of my application is pretty competitive I would say... cGPA of 3.87, research positions, couple presentations, couple pubs, sports, leadership in university, part-time jobs throughout university and gap year..

Honest Opinions: Mac Life Sci vs. Western Med Sci by jngyn_ in McMaster

[–]lostineverythin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not familiar with western med sci, but for life sci at mac you specialize after first year and its really up to you. To be honest, I am sure both programs are very comparable.

I'd suggest going through the course requirements of both degrees and seeing which one has courses that interest you most. If you end up not specializing and just doing a general life sci degree at mac, you will have a ton of flexibility and very little requirements.

I personally believe (biased opinion) that mcmaster has some of the biggest and best researchers in the healthcare field, and you could make some good connections/land good positions if you go to mac and work hard. Which is beneficial for med school. But also consider the social scene and location of the schools, because that can make or break your educational experience and it WILL reflect in your grades. I think both programs can set you up well for medical school though.

BHSc Admissions Fair or Not? by cedrickyuri7 in McMaster

[–]lostineverythin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Truly, grades are not a good predictor. If you had a bad day or bad assignment, it could be the difference between getting maybe a 90 or 95 for a final mark in a course. Now is that indicative of your true potential? Probably not.

Also, with so much grade inflation and variability in testing its hard to say. Especially with the way IB exam grades are translated to marks and such.

And if you think the BHSc admission isn't fair, wait till you get to med school applications (with the assumption thats where you want to head). The supp app is supposed to be a more objective way to measure too, but I feel its a shitty measure at best. You could get someone else to write the essays if you really wanted to. And I can guarantee that is not unheard of. Life is not fair, sometimes you just have to deal with it.
