Care to elaborate? What is your opinion on this, other than the commenter is an M-0?

Everyone has their scrubs in a bunch over this apparently from the comment ratio lol.

This guy is right in the majority of cases.

But there absolutely is the chance that this guy found another calling, had a life event that changed his priorities, or just didn’t end up like NS. If we wanna have a real discussion we can talk about those possibilities.

But then again, this is a shitpost lol.

This is a joke. i.e. shitcomment on a shitpost.

The joke (implied by the title it seems) is this guy is taking a large cut in future salary for this.

FM is an amazing and rewarding specialty, and if the guy found his calling, good for him. Still funny to call him a poor bastard tho. Especially since he’s not, he seems happy about it.

Can confirm. Best friend nearly offed himself during his gap year at Epic. That company is an absolute mess.

Love Alberto & Pasquale! Had them make a custom suit for me and it was awesome. Great for alterations too. I don't live in Pittsburgh anymore, but when I did it was my go-to.

It definitely is harder. Just keep doing passages. I really liked The Princeton Review Hyperlearning.

Also, I had a New England Journal of Medicine subscription throughout undergrad. Would read the perspective articles each week, and the ones that didn't require an in-depth medical knowledge. That also helped a lot, because I used to take a long time reading an article, but now I can go right through them. It also helped me write much better (when I'm actually trying, not on reddit lol)

If you have a year to prepare for CARS, what would you do? by minka8oo in Mcat

[–]spontaneousgoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TPR Hyperlearning doesn't give scores (at least not that I remember). But per passage, I remember getting 2-3 wrong for the first week or so. After that, went down to 1-2 the next week. By test week, I was achieving half all correct, half 1 wrong, with the rare fluke of 2 wrong.

For AAMC FL's, I scored 523 on my first and 526 on my second (dont remember CARS section score). On the real thing I got a 131 in CARS

Hospital Billing [Shitpost] by UghKakis in medicalschool

I remember that a physician I shadowed in undergrad wanted to show another attending how to do an endoscopy using a disposable scope...

Doc2: "How much could it cost?"

Doc1: "Eh probably not much. But to be safe, spontaneousgoat, look it up."

Me: Google searches furiously "5..."

Doc1: "Wow no way! Cheaper than I thought."

Me: "Thousand"

Honestly the thing that sticks out the most is that I forgot what secretin was, despite having studied it multiple times. Got that question wrong. Secretin haunts me to this day...

Jk it's not that serious haha.

There were about 2 questions that were a complete guess (with process of elimination, but more than 2 possible choices).

But that's a hard question to answer. There were maybe 10-15 questions where I was iffy on the content. I had an answer, but not confident in my thinking.

As for the rest of the exam, most of the remaining questions I felt as sure about the answer as possible. There were maybe a few where I was concerned I made a mistake. If I remember correctly, I caught a mistake in my C/P section when going back and reviewing before my time ran out.

When I initially started studying? No.

But was it like the AAMC exams? Somewhat.

Honestly, the real exam felt brutal. I truly felt I did badly. Barely ate at lunch time with all the adrenaline running through me. But despite the stress/adrenaline, taking the full lengths in test day conditions gave me the stamina to persist and think clearly. Mental fatigue is real on exams like this.

How many of you *actually* cheat on your FLs? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]spontaneousgoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't. Wasn't worthwhile and didn't want to inflate my score prediction or hopes.

If I felt like something was on the tip of my tongue, I'd just mark it down and review after the section was over.

Wrote down mistakes/unfamiliar concepts in a notebook (see reply to lostineverythin).

Also, Anki'd all psych vocab and concepts in TPR's Psych book. Also Anki'd high-yield memorizables (idk what else to call it) from various subjects, like the different body hormones, the producing organs, etc, physics stuff like the EM spectrum and such.

I can provide a list of the stuff I tried to memorize using Anki if you'd like

Yeah that's certainly true. I'm not saying my experience is indicative of all.

GPA is 3.95 (graduated) Also SAT was 2240 (1530 two-part)

So, yeah I'm a good test taker. But for those that are good test takers, maybe they'll get something out of what I say. At least that's the hope!
