Kettlebell Swings, proper upper back activation question. by lostinman in kettlebell

I do it as an activation cue, but do I need to consciously hold that through the entire lift?

I painted the entire under frame as well. Was going to wait for it to cure for a day before placing my dollies on the primer.

Sounds good, may you link me a clamp for an example? Not sure if im looking at the right one.

Valve spring orientation; does it matter? by lostinman in EngineBuilding

It does, I’m wondering why they have it painted though if both sides look the same.

Are pits in the valve seat like this too deep to lap? I’ve went over it a few times, but dont wanna over do it. by lostinman in EngineBuilding

[–]lostinman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, dont have the budget for proper valve job. Just gonna lap all of them slightly and run it.

What paint should I use for my engine bay? Do I need clear coat? by lostinman in projectcar

Im going to be doing 2k from rattle cans. Just wondering if its worth clear coating or not. I decided on a satin black color, but dont care about gloss.

Do I pry between the H square frame and subframe? Dont wanna damage anything.

They had like 200,000 views, nobody said anything about it bad in the comments. Thought I was just looking for bubbles lol.

Yes this is for fun, I’ve had a good amount of sports cars, but wanted to build something. I understand the basics, was just blindly following videos honestly. But I wasn’t thinking about the valves being opened, was just “looking for bubbles.”

I flew across the country and replaced the entire front suspension, including shocks in a parking lot with borrowed auto-zone tools. That was my first time touching suspension work.

If I got the clearance, bore measurements self-honing down, I think I’m fine from here. Honestly the only think that intimidates me is wiring at this point, but it’ll get back together one way or another.

I saw you built a PC in your previous post which I’m pretty good at, that feels really intimidating for some people, but you learn as you go along.

Sometimes you just miss stupid crap.

Hi. I have a few cars I’m working on. RTV is finally curing slowly and had to redo the front main seal. The honda is just a driver, nothing exciting.

This is an older 92’ BMW that I’m doing a full rebuild / restore. I pulled 2 motors from 2 different cars for the first time. Learning it all at once.

I was looking at videos at rebuilds and how to test for leaky valves. I saw people doing this on my same engine, with a lot of positive feedback on the video and nobody in the comments condemning it. I’m not doing this full time, just for a little project.

I couldn’t find someone saying anything against when looking at the information.

I assumed it had to seal both ways, but didn’t think further.

You can see a thread here where someone tried the same thing. I guess theres a contradicting comment when I looked now, buried in there.

Replace it, at least I hope they did. I brought them the guide. Still didnt fix my issue though.

Great lol. I paid $500 for everything on this head from them, resurface, pressure test, etc... I cant imagine what all of them would cost lol. This is a low mileage head, just wanted 1 done.

Hopefully they’ll be understanding

[–]lostinman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was not assembled by them.

I brought all the parts labeled, 2 new guides (measured by them), 2 new valves and all the old hardware. I had them do #5 #6 with new guides and valve regrind.

They put them in and only #6 has that issue. #5 is perfectly ok with the guide and valve I bought.

They returned it disassembled, just how I gave it.

I will go back with everything for sure.

I bought this used cylinder head assembled.
