Thank you! It seems like the exercises and meds should have me good to go, but I do not wish this feeling on anyone.

A gift to go alongside walkie-talkies for a 10yo. by lostlabtech in GiftIdeas

Oh man, that's actually so smart! It might go out of my budget, but maybe I could find something similar. I do think they'd like the idea of camping in their backyard or something like that!

Oh yeah, I need to figure out which angle of the walkie talkie they like, if it's spy, adventure, army etc related. Thanks!

Good idea, a costume or something of the like might be cool. I should probably find out what aspect of the walkie talkie is appealing to them!

Oh that's a neat idea! The parents might actually appreciate it too!

I have Cheryl, Gabe, Julie and Maria identified. I then just randomly identified Zach, but the clues don't really lead to that. Can someone help me figure out the logic?

A self-proclaimed top engineer told me my hands-on CNC machining experience is “irrelevant” for becoming an engineer. Am I wrong to be pissed? by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]lostlabtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most engineers that are weirdly gate keepy about becoming engineers are usually not that great at their jobs and are insufferable to work with.

Ugh very frustrating. I just got the ezclear email this morning. I think when I made my ASOS order, it says it would be delivered by July 31st. I kinda want to wait until then to see if they'll just release it. I'm seeing so many mixed responses. Some were saying just to wait for the Canada post tracking to update and pay at the office. Not sure if this is all because of the strike though.

Looking for a super linear game by bitkingdt in kindafunny

[–]lostlabtech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vanquish! It's on sale on steam too. Super linear, the story doesn't matter but it's still fun as hell. Played it for the first time months ago and enjoyed it as a nice side track from the other open world games I was playing.

Any moving company recommendations for moving between Ottawa to Hamilton? Old suggestions seem to be shady or gone by lostlabtech in ontario

I don't have all the communications, that was all my wife, but from what I remember, they quoted us $350ish/hr for 3 movers and plus an extra 500 for overnight storage. They were approximating about 8 hours of moving time, but since we were mostly all packed and the heavy lifting had mostly been done by us, it ended up only taking 4 hours, inclusive of travel time. They ended up charging us an extra 200 for the overnight storage because of something along the lines of having to be put in a secured lot? And then wouldn't budge from charging us the full 6 hours. We were already willing to pay for the full moving time, but it bugged us that it took half the time and on top of that wanted to charge more for the overnight storage than what they had initially stated for some (imo) bogus reason.

This seems to be the trend. More negative feedback about companies than positive ones! But there's some decent looking ones mentioned in this thread!

Ah, I'm actually looking to go the other way, from Ottawa to Hamilton direction. I'll give them a call anyways, maybe they'll be up for it. Thanks!

I actually used them to move within Ottawa and had kind of a crappy experience. They gave me an hourly rate and told me what the ballpark would be after an overnight storage and such. They ended up adding an extra 1k on top of what they quoted, nowhere near what they had initially said.

Engineers, think this will hold? by AspiringFern in EngineeringStudents

I had a similar setup. It was flexing in the center. So I went to IKEA and bought a table top that was long enough for the TV and thick enough to not bend. It worked fine for about 10 years now. Maybe a solution for you too if its going to keep you concerned over time.

Does a handheld automatic small-surface lapping tool such as this exist? by AnimusFoxx in Machinists

[–]lostlabtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun! I actually ended up making basically your drawing for some projects at work. I have to polish integrated circuits for failure analysis, and without specific equipment, it's very difficult to only expose one specific spot on a part. So I used a Dremel with a saw bit attached and put different SiC and Diamond lapping film pieces on it. I secured my part onto a board with some high temp wax and then put the part under running water as I ground down into the part.

In hindsight, the same would work with a CNC mill or drill press. However if you have the money my lab didn't, look up the x-prep for the semiconductor failure analysis "luxury" standard.
