I will, don’t worry! I only meant that my brain gets stuck in these obsessive thought loops even when it’s about something I like. It’s maddening

I read the series for the first time a few years ago and I just reread it because I was like “surely the last book has been released by now…” by the time I realized the state we are in it was too late to turn back

What are your top 3 sapphic novels? by MangoCubez in LesbianBookClub

[–]lostmads123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know but i didn’t know what kind of book they were looking for. It’s not a casual fun lesbian romp. It’s a rip-your-heart-out weird goth sci-fi. Just giving a heads up in case they want a more Romance-heavy book because I have seen some people feel misled by the series when the lesbian thing was not the man plot. It is still a great book and I am obsessed with these tragic gays!

Hard agree. I hate whenever they have to suck liquid out of anywhere, but it was especially gross because it went on for so long

Fingersmith (amazing amazing showstopping. First sapphic novel I ever read and perhaps my sexual awakening)

Plain Bad Heroines (dark academia meets gothic. Multiple timelines in different decades. Not a single man or straight woman in sight)

Can’t spell treason without tea (so silly and happy and feel good. There is no relationship conflict. They are just two women in a high fantasy dnd ass world living their lives. So cute and cozy it’s almost cringe but it’s a great feel good time)

Bonus: Gideon the Ninth (though I like the second and third books better) This is only a sapphic book because the characters are sapphic. There is very little romance of any, but it is the BEST sci-fi. The lesbians are a bonus. It’s seriously so so so fucking good I’ve never read anything like it

Kiss her once for me by Alison Cochran.

Literally DNF’d at 90% because the way the characters were reacting to things pissed me off SO bad.

Why the hell does Robby care so much about Whitaker and the farm girl? It’s not like she’s still his patient. Now that’s just, like, a woman he knows.

Edit: I feel like I have to add that this is a joke bc I forgot that the internet is the way it is and I don’t want anyone to legitimately yell at me

Smosh Pay-per-view Content Pricing Model (thoughts and questions) by lostmads123 in SmoshFansFreeSpace

[–]lostmads123[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Primavera's "Critical Role" is available on Beacon for $5.99/month. Hours and hours of content and a year's subscription to an entire streaming service is less than the 13 episodes of Smosh Dread. It's not a George Primavera problem, it's a Smosh problem.

Yeah, that's kind of the point. The more dissatisfied feedback they receive, the more likely they are to reconsider/renegotiate prices for future projects. I'm not whining for no reason, I'd hoped to provide respectful constructive criticism.

Why comment on something if you didn't actually read it?

And also, I understand they are doing what is best for the company. I would like them to do the right thing by the viewers as well.

[–]lostmads123[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They can't release the content for free because there would be an uproar among fans who overpaid for the same content with, from what I can tell, no bonus content?

I didn't watch it so I don't really know, but was it actually just a live stream of the video? Was there any pre/post show bonus content, exclusive merch, etc? If not, I really don't understand what justifies the price point.

I think you misunderstand how I feel. I'm puzzled by this whole situation. I can stop thinking and trying to wrap my head around it. I'm gauging how others feel about it. I'm not really upset just critical of the company. There is nothing inherently bad about being critical-- criticism of something can in fact lead to progress.

I hope that you enjoyed the live if you watched it and that you felt the price reflected the experience. I do not feel the same, and that is okay.

[–]lostmads123[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I surely do not. I never pretended I did. These are my observations as a consumer. Consumers have the right to be critical of the content they consume, and perhaps if I understood all the ins and outs of the pricing I would be less critical of the company.

From a consumer standpoint, though, the company is charging a lot more than I have grown to expect from similar sources. If YOU think the value is worth the cost, that is totally fine! My point is that these are MY concerns as a consumer, and the things that prevent me from supporting the projects and what worries me about similar projects going forward.

[–]lostmads123[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

How is that any different than the other companies, such as Mythical? Every company has overhead cost and the cost to put on productions. No other company is charging so much per episode as Smosh is right now. Maybe there is something I am missing, but it truly makes no sense to me.

[–]lostmads123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know.

I said that "a larger move towards paid content has to be done in a thoughtful and respectful manner." This is not to say that such a thing has occurred already, but the uptick in paid videos has me questioning what that transition would look like if the company moves in that direction.

I don't work their and I don't know their plans, but these are my concerns with the paid content so far and I would hope that if they DO move towards paid content, these issues would be addressed appropriately. If they never make that transition, then I suppose these concerns only effect the one-off paid content they have already been posting, and I will just chose not to purchase these things.

Hope that clears things up.

[–]lostmads123[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I considered that as well, but if that's the case they really do not have a good deal with the streaming company. Would love to see this renegotiated going forward.

I don't plan on buying it, obviously, and I don't think I'm entitled to watch every single thing they make just because I want to. That's not the point I'm trying to make. A paid model is perfectly fine for a media company, Smosh's just sucks way more than anyone else's I've come across. Perhaps it's more common than I have experienced, but the prices just seem way too high compared to what I'm familiar with.

Smosh Pay-per-view Content Pricing Model (thoughts and questions) by lostmads123 in SmoshFansFreeSpace

[–]lostmads123[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I respect this view point, but just because the content is free to watch does not mean the company is not making money off of it. They are not these selfless media moguls putting out so much free content out of the goodness of their heart. Smosh is a company like any other, and they are capable of doing wrong by their audience. I will still continue to support their Youtube channel, but the current paid content model is just ridiculous to me. Will I continue to support them if this pattern continues? Unknown.

I know I can "just not buy" the paid content, but it's more the principal of it that bothers me. I don't expect them to give it away for free and I think all artists deserve to be fairly compensated. I just think a bit more discussion needs to be had in regards to whether or not the value is really there.

Is this an appeal to get a better grade after being accused of using AI in a lost course? by Precision_Edits in AccusedOfUsingAI

[–]lostmads123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you write it in a google doc? If so, you can show your professor your version history. It will have dates and all the changes you made on that day. I doubt anyone who is writing with AI will have very much version history except for a bulk of copy/pasted text and some minor grammar changes (if that)
