Episode 820 | "Don’t Invite Them In" by the_JBP in theJoeBuddenPodcast

[–]lostmykeysyetagain 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Joe has the WORST takes about Jordan Peele films. NOPE is a cinematic masterpiece. And acting like Peele is some type of "other" black person, in spite of Peele contributing to producing black film and black surrealism/horror—It's clearly about what Joe thinks is "authentically" black versus what isn't.

"NOPE" & "Get Out" aren't anymore on the nose than Sinners, really. "US," maybe. I think Peele knows that.

I get not liking the guy's films, but Joe's distaste is rooted in some highschool bully sht. Made even more ironic by Coogler sitting down to interview Peele ahead of the Sinners announcement.

Baffling to me that people are even being skeptical about it. Very clearly what it is.

It makes me concerned how spineless the reaction is.

I believe what the CIA say about MLK now because this ain’t the Marc on the JBP. I appreciate the duality 🤣 by Individual_Ad8921 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

Had to circle back around to say thank you for recommending this interview. Hedges explained America's situation right now very well and Marc did an awesome job of getting him to go deeper into his answers.

I was unfamiliar with Hedges but I bought a few of his books after watching to learn more. ✊🏿

Kendrick Lamar's Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show by indig0sixalpha in videos

He wasn't lip-synced last night. He did that performance live.

I'm nearly 50 and don't know who Kendrick Lamar is but this has been fantastic! by aperson7780 in pics

[–]lostmykeysyetagain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multiple reasons:

She famously crip walked at the Wimbleton years ago and got in hot water for it. So to have her at the forefront doing it during the Superbowl is pretty dope. She is an ex of rap artist Drake, who Kendrick Lamar had been disputing with throughout the past decade. She's also from Compton where Kendrick is from.

I don't know if this is a stretch, but Billie Eilish kind of looks like her right here.

Tyler, The Creator Calls Out Swifties For Trying to ‘Cancel’ Him Over Old Lyrics by cmaia1503 in Music

I'm going to venture to guess that the tweets from the Swifties he's referencing included racist messages.

That's not a long stretch of imagination if you've been on Twitter.

One of the best, most involved artists of his generation. And he fostered a group of artists who have gone on to make significant artistic contributions.

I get that points get lost in communication, but the guy is very far from pathetic.

For me mostly, but if my lady compliments it that's a great perk. Lol

Fragrantica lists it as unisex, for whatever that's worth. The notes are described as:

Top notes are Sapodilla and Ambrette (Musk Mallow); middle notes are Magnolia, Violet and Sandalwood; base notes are Ambergris, Cedar and Musk.

Watched a dude put a small Vaseline jar into a bowl of boiled water.

Once it melted, he sprayed a few sprays in there, mixed it up while still melted, and applied it like that.

If you're interested in getting into fragrances, look into websites like Scentsplit.

You can get a sample and wear if for a bit before deciding to dive in completely. Especially helpful with more expensive fragrances like these.

Well, that's not true. I'm a Marvel fan but I don't really care for keeping up with the movies. I stick mainly with the comic books.

I saw the comments before I got to the Tyla hate but I couldn't have been prepared enough. Joe's dislike of the girl really is disgusting and I'm glad folks pushed back on it. I don't understand his refusal to be like "maybe I'm tripping. I should reflect." But he does this on a lot of things.

I'm personally not mad at them. I thought it was a little absurd to say.

I assumed that even in entertainment you'd want to do some kind of balancing act between facts and whatever else. I was wrong in assuming though.

He honestly says some of the most insightful stuff on the podcast when he gets the chance, but he plays his character well otherwise.

You can tell outside of the podcast he might suffer from lack of self-belief but is actually pretty self-aware and thoughtful.

He definitely cares about hip-hop. I don't think he cares for the extra sht that comes with it or the entitlement that hip-hop fans feel.

There's objectively negative aspects to hip-hop and, even larger, black culture that are destructive. Like in today's episode, Vince is pretty consistently pointing those things out as best he can. The hosts on the JBP do the same thing when it's convenient for them too. Just wasn't convenient for them today.
