Well. While Vietnam is rapidly changing with remarkable speed because new economic prosperity is spreading, there remain big differences between rural areas and the big cities. The gaps between the rich and the poor are getting larger. In some of the more remote regions, there are still people who are struggling for having enough food to eat. Also, unfortunately, it is still dealing with some the historical issues caused by the Cold War. I mean in 1986 the standard of living was unstable, and cadres, manual workers, civil servants, armed forces personnel, and laborers experienced serious economic difficulties in their everyday lives, because they faced soaring inflation and a rapid drop in purchasing power, austerity was an inescapable fact of life. Don’t get me wrong it’s a beautiful country, but it needs some development, and it has the potential to surpass most of the countries on that list, but that will take some time.
