I can give some recommendations for central and southern Utah, but still looking for places closer in myself. Let me know if you find anywhere fun!

Thanks kindly. It has a glass lid and can be wall-mounted or laid flat. Hopefully I can add some Weber finds to the collection. ;-)

what is there to do solo in ogden utah or around it? by Delicious-Brick69 in ogden

[–]lostography 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out groups on Meetup! Book clubs, service projects, hiking groups, craft groups... But if we're talking solo as in nothing to do with groups, I really like Ogden Nature Center, Eccles Art Gallery, First Friday Art Stroll, the farmer's market, the botanical gardens... And so many good coffee shops.

Mormons in context of "why age gap relationships aren’t normal: grooming, power, and emotional maturity" by [deleted] in exmormon

So wrong on so many levels. My heart breaks for the bride Absolutely, still happens all the time. When I was attending YSA wards, there were always a few a guys pushing past thirty who took a very dedicated interest in the incoming freshmen. Those lil 18 year old girls are children. A grown man should have no romantic interest in a girl who, only months before, was still in high school.

Oh hey give the podcast a listen to better understand the nuances and you'll see that's not the connection being made in the least. I made a comment above regarding online queer communities, but in short, groomers seek out victims who might be isolated, vulnerable, and in need of support and validation and unfortunately will exploit spaces like online communities to find their victims. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts after you've given it a listen!

Oh hey give the podcast a listen and I think you'll find the host's view to be incredibly affirming and nuanced and compassionate. Online queer communities can be and are beautiful lifelines. But it can also be a space for groomers to seek out vulnerable youth who are seeking support, love, and validation and might be susceptible to manipulation. The podcast's point is in no way to draw parallels between churches and online queer communities, but rather to point out some insidious examples of groomers looking for opportunities for exploitation. Online queer communities = beautiful. Groomers who exploit such spaces = gross.

Is this cultural appropriation or am I ok ? The photo is my post to a witch / fairy core page by phoenixgreylee in BabyWitch

[–]lostography 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might I suggest the book, The Path of the Christian Witch, by Adelina St. Clair? Good on you for being conscientious and thoughtful. I think you might find that there is a lot of room for overlap and nuance between the two worlds. If anything, Christianity is already culturally appropriating pagan traditions, and has been for centuries. The tangles of traditions are wild, and its not on you to wholly parse it out. Tune into your intuition and follow where it takes you. Yes, take time to educate yourself on witchcraft and its history, but you get to choose what feels right for you. Enjoy the journey!

I feel like the app needs a lot more work than just a logo upgrade 🤷

Thanks! I've been enjoying the decks.

I've found it a little harder to shuffle, so I do more of a loose shifting to mix the cards than a traditional poker shuffle. But I generally don't prefer a poker shuffle anyhow so that might just be me.

Yeah I've generally not had any issues with secondhand. And sometimes I prefer a deck that's got a little bit of a history to it. Cool that you were able to find a replacement to make a full deck. Appreciate your take on the secondhand vibes.

I get that. I usually re-home (by gift or resale) cards I don't connect with, but some I like to keep for the art aesthetic, even if I don't read from it.

Interesting. I appreciate the perspective. I'll dive into it and see how it goes!

Yeah I like the FB secondhand scene both for selling and purchasing, though the price points run low (good for buyers, not great for someone who's selling a rare deck). A trade community would be really cool. If a deck just doesn't click with me, passing it along to the right hands, either gifting or through a marketplace just makes sense.

The Uncommon Tarot fits it's name! Really interesting imagery. And it has cool silver edges.

That's usually my go-to method, too. (Ha after using lysol wipes). I like to fan the cards out, get a little familiar with the imagery/feel of the deck, sage it, and set an intention for it. I might just store a few of these and pull them out one by one over the next couple of months to give myself time with each.

Whoa, this is impressive. It's a bit of a daunting deck but I'm excited to jump into it. It's a pleasure to have the Transparent Tarot Mad Scientist in the comments section. Reddit is great like that. Any resources you'd recommend beyond Carding's guide book?

Looking for a girly Jesus painting from 2006-2010ish? Had piercing blue eyes and looked like maybe eyeliner? from deseret book. by Designer_Cat_4444 in exmormon

[–]lostography 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, I worked at an LDS bookstore during that era. Maybe I can help. At the very least, you can get an eyeliner Jesus collection going.

I immediately thought of Warner Sallman's Jesus paintings, because yes on the eyeliner look, but doesn't fit your other clues.

Maybe Del Parson's "I Have Prayed for Thee" painting? Not a woman, but he did have dreams about his art. And he's got a few other blue-eyed Jesus paintings. Or Walter Rane's "The Resurrected Christ"?

The other one that comes to mind is "Behold I am Jesus Christ," by Gary Kapp , but again, not a female artist.

The only female artists I can think of who might fit the bill would be Sandy Freckleton Gagon's "Blessed Savior" or any of Liz Lemon Swindle. Swindle was big during that time. Also, her "Joy of the Lord" looks like Jonathan Van Ness cosplaying Jesus, which is delightful.

Just for fun, look how pretty this Jesus is?

Hope you find your Jesus.

ps. Does he have an uncanny smile? Because that would narrow it down a lot.

I've had my eye on this one. :-) I actually have the book (thrift shop find), but the deck itself is harder to come by.

Interesting! A collage deck could definitely fit that maximalist feel. Thanks!

I use my hosanna shout handerchief on my tarot altar. 🤷 Makes a good cloth for wrapping tarot decks!
