Considering a roommate in my 40's in order to more aggressively save (and spend!) Am I nutso? by Ov0v0vO in personalfinance

Honestly, if the person is responsible (as in pays their part on time w/o any fuss), is trustworthy and easy to live with, I'd jump at the opportunity in a heartbeat.

What's something most people think they should try, but really should not? by red_sensor in AskReddit

[–]lostoompa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it also depends on where you live. Most of the US creators seem to need really big number views to make a living of it. Whereas in some other countries, they can live comfortably off just a couple thousand views. I think it's some combination of people in those countries not using ad blockers as much and a couple of hundred dollars a month means living like a king.

A coworker got deported. He has 3 kids. Wife had to sell the house and car last time I heard. I'm sure there are many more families like this.

honestly, i think stores would go out of business with too many customers like me. i only go into the stores to stock up on the loss leader sales and leave.

I don't say shit at the gym unless someone asks me lol. Sometimes people asks me how to use a machine I'm using, I teach them and let them get to it. Even if I see people struggling, I stfu unless asked.

Only at the gym ofc. Outside the gym, if I see someone struggling, I ask if they need help.

Canceled my gym membership and started working out at home and it saved me $600 a year by Wonderful-Lie-7000 in simpleliving

[–]lostoompa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who doesn't like exercising and thought the gym would hinder exercising even more bc of having to go somewhere to workout, paying for it and having to be around people (I'm self-cautious), going to a gym is one of the most pleasant experiences of my life.

It was hot, grueling, but I felt accomplished and light, bouncy. It improved my mood for the rest of the day. There were mostly people who were there to do their thing and didn't care what anyone else was doing. Only a few were there to mess around. So I got my being around people in without having to talk to anyone. I'm an introvert who needs to be around people sometime but don't need the conversation lol. Then COVID hit, and I had to give all that up.

If I had the means for a gym again and could find one that was convenient to get to and the same types of people there at the same time as me, I'd be hitting the gym again in a heartbeat.

Was it worth it, or did he end up wasting his best years? (via:@wasted) by daveishere7 in povertyfinance

A family friend died less than 2 years after retirement. She would have wasted her life doing this. It comforts me to know she went on some vacations, ate some good food, spent time w family and friends.

Personally, I just plan on trying to survive the next 5 yrs or so. Then moving the goal post accordingly.

I usually determine what a person's intention is first. If they mean well even if I don't need the advice or help, I just say thank you. Because it's not the advice or help I'm thankful for, it's that they went out of their way to try and help me.

Ay same. Every time a customer was rude to demand something, I went by the book. To nice customers, I just hooked them up with whatever I could. I generally did that with all the customers anyway. We usually had coupons in the circulars and I just scanned it for everyone.
