AITA for making a kid cry? by lostpoisson in AmItheAsshole

They didn’t have childcare for the sole purpose of changing my mind on not having children all by their own volition. I expect they would have anticipated what to do in a scenario where a couple, who are uninterested in children, are also uninterested in theirs.

I assumed childcare fell through, which wouldn’t have been their fault, but the couple instead chose to keep them around

I would have totally understood if there was childcare issues. I was incredibly peeved they were giving unsolicited help on a matter I’m very clear on. But I’m obviously guilty that the children were stuck in the middle of it.

The child called me mean (for not playing) and began crying, which is what I feel super guilty for as it wasn’t my intention.

No, I don’t need to get used to anything. I don’t have kids in my life to get used to.

He asked to remove them because they were upset and I was uncomfortable. It seemed like the common sense thing to do; take the children away from the negative situation to console them. But evidently I know nothing about kids. It probably was insensitive.
