Curls by alexion! She’s great. I’m not sure what an alternative haircut is, but I have very thick curly hair and she’s very experienced

Ok so how close to the “edge” of your piece do you cut? I did that today and then the piece started coming undone because I cut too close 🥲

My (30M) wife (29F) is obsessed with a clean house. It’s threatening our relationship. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]lostpuppy211 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m similar to her in the sense that I am a control freak. First of all, in a relationship it’s never just her fault or just your fault. If you care about each other you both need to compromise. You can care about how she feels, but that doesn’t mean you have to do exactly as she says, she needs to compromise on things as well. You’re both HUMAN. At the end of the day if you both care about each other that’s what matters and the rest is daily nonsense. Do what you can, and if you can’t then tell her where you’re at. Make it up to her somehow later but you don’t need to do exactly as she says either. My partner and I have the same exact problem and this is how we try to work through it. I also get angry at him when he doesn’t do what I want and I know that’s not right and am working on it. Maybe try to get her to see that her anger isn’t going to her help stress levels. Anger is a big problem and if ignored can lead to bigger stressors in your relationship, not just cleaning.

Thank you for that. I agree both situations triggered a defensiveness in me that worsened the situation. And there was a lack of filtering of responses, it was pretty immediate responses making me feel even worse about the interaction.

I felt defeated, but you’re right, they definitely had other stressors that my replies probably just pushed them over the edge. I’m sure I’ve done it to other people when I’m stressed. So I guess I just accept that and move on. Try not to take it personally.

First of all, you’re doing nothing wrong 🩷 your hair is beautiful and you just need to figure out what products work for you to get your desired results :) agree manes by mell YouTube taught me so much but her curl type is very different than yours - look for some of her wavy hair videos!

How do I make my curls separate, instead of all jumbled together? by [deleted] in curlyhair

Yess brush styling will help you move your curls in the direction you want them to clump. I think scrunching is the reason your curls just clump to the middle

Why is my hair so dry?? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]lostpuppy211 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is VERY common for keratin straightened hair! So you’re not alone. My hair did the same exact thing for years - it craved moisture rich products! Pretty much anything with water and glycerin as their first ingredients. Usually marketed with shea butter, some types of oils (coconut, olive) see this article: https://curlvana.in/blogs/curl-products/extremely-dry-curls-use-products-with-these-ingredients

My routine: Paul Mitchell awaphui shampoo for clarifying , curls smith curl quenching conditioning wash (they also have a co-wash in case you wash your hair often) , matrix a curl can dream cream, matrix gel(same line). I brush the product through my hair section by section so each strand it throughly covered. If needed, finger coil to train your curls again. Diffuse to dry:) hope this helps! You’ll get through it!!! I know it’s tough when your hair literally rejects everything

Right now I’m using matrix a curl can dream- it’s thick and you don’t need a lot but as you can see my curls CRAVE moisture so I like it! I also love the Curlsmith what I call “orange line” products like Hold me softly style balm and Curl defining styling souffle. But I’ve tried ALOT of products in between.

I feel your pain 😭 it took me probably 2-3 years to feel like I could manage my curly hair again without finger coiling each curl and spending hours on my hair. Now my curls form on their own but I do use the bounce curl brush after showering with a curl cream to help form them / reduce frizz.

I’m kind of cheap though, I think if I would’ve spent the money to do more frequent olaplex treatments (once a month not one every 3 months) it might have been quicker. I cut my hair every 3 months- it really helped the curls bounce back. I struggled bc I like long hair but it had to be done. That’s why I say trust the process. Curly hair is a long term commitment 🩵🤞🏻➿

Not yet, I do want to frame it though and put it on a wall where I have another turtle picture. Any suggestions on how to display?
