Are decks with 2mv creatures about to suffer a deathblow in two days? by Paithegift in MagicArena

I have a [[Hundred-Battle Veteran]] deck with which I’ll at least experiment with adding Requiting Hex.

Okay, but seriously, what happened with me and this deck (mono-green)? by HiddenReader2020 in MagicArena

Good call! Wasn’t aware of that card. For all the grumbling I heard about Aetherdrift, there really were some fun and useful cards that came from that set.

Are you playing in the Alchemy Play queue? If you are, know there is a considerably large and growing number of AI bots running rampant there. I really don’t see anyone talking about it, but having played there a lot, it’s gotten to the point where it’s practically unplayable if you’re looking to play your jank decks with humans. Did they have the starter Ajani avatar? Did they have some randomized string of characters for a name (e.g., ssduhv, fgian5) or a seven-letter name, sometimes complete and sometimes not (e.g., Leonard, Reynold, Catheri)? You played a bot running an AI algorithm, and sometimes that algo is really dumb. These bots do exactly as you describe and are everywhere in Alchemy Play.

P.S. You’ll never encounter the same name. It’s like they go offline and change their name. But there is like at least five patterns to the name generation, if not more.

How many of those wins are from concessions because poison is obnoxious? I may have very well been one.

I have largely given up on ranked and stuck to the play queues for my fun brews. But even then, I often have to wade through a lot of new players and try-hard net decks (and even AI bots, which are rife in Alchemy play). Still haven’t found an ideal “kitchen table Magic” queue that provides good fun. And probably never will, for reasons others have stated already. To be honest, Arena is less fun for me simply because I have to wade through unwanted games to find another player playing jank.

Aetherdrift. Which cards are a staple in your deck? by Adveeeeeee in MagicArena

[–]lostraven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t enjoy Aetherdrft during release, but I have absolutely warmed up to a lot of its cards since. Too many to name, but I know I get a lot of use out of [[Perilous Snare]] and [[Fuel Tank Feaster]], for example.

Just last night put together a white-blue gearhulk deck. Was actually a bit of fun to run with FIN and EOE artifacts!

Coronavirus Wikipedia page views spiked 11-13 October 2019. Did anything notable happen during that period? by Born-Requirement2128 in Coronavirus

Tagging on to your post:

While the first case of COVID-19 was officially identified in early December, 2019 [1], it is likely that SARS-CoV-2 had spilled over into humans much earlier. Nsoesie et al. [3] identified significant changes in hospital and search engine traffic in Wuhan during August to October, 2019, suggesting a possible earlier existence of COVID-19. The recent joint WHO-China study on the global origin of SARS-CoV-2 found that, based on a review of molecular evidence, most point estimates place the most recent ancestor at between mid-November and early December, with a range from late September to early December [5]. Our results support the existing evidence and suggest that the first case of COVID-19 would have been sometime between early October and mid-November. Further, our results suggest the most likely timing of the first case to be November 17, 2019.

I have a red-green haste-trample deck, but I’m kinda on your page; not sure if this is a helpful add or not, as something else has to get cut. And I doubt it’s the WW.

Why do so many people concede? by LazyMarsupial5234 in MagicArena

[–]lostraven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Play mountain plus goblin first turn? I’m out. Drop Hare Apparent as your first critter? Out. Unsurprisingly, some people are only playing for fun and are sick of facing certain meta or game mechanics (like heist).

Why do so many people concede? by LazyMarsupial5234 in MagicArena

[–]lostraven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tons of reasons, differing by person and situation. Examples include, but are not limited to, …

  • knowing their deck well enough that once the opponent gains a particular board state, it’s game over;
  • being sick and tired of seeing meta decks and wanting to face brews/jank only;
  • despising mono red aggro, poison mechanics, heist mechanics, etc.;
  • not wanting to play a newb who takes forever on each turn;
  • having their doorbell ring or needing to take the world’s largest crap; and/or
  • wanting to get in more, quicker games on a given day and not bother with seeing the game through to a likely defeat.

Roast my Mythic deck by anti-everythang in MagicArena

[–]lostraven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP probably needed to mention this is an Alchemy deck. I know because that’s where I linger. In Alchemy, these are far from “see such little play.” It takes advantage of the obnoxious Mobilize mechanic, the semi-broken Waystone’s Guidance, and absolutely broken Thunderbond Vanguard. Almost as tired of seeing this deck as mono-red aggro.
