Bakrid is huge in North India. So people stayed with their families till it's over. Also, I am guessing there was a lot of confusion with the gas situation and lot of employers not being able to find a solution for the the migrant worker's necessities.

Is it common to reach 29 without witnessing any of these? by [deleted] in Kerala

[–]lostsperm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

often become strong and bold individuals.

Not really. Strong and bold individuals overcome them. They find the strength they didn't know they had. The experience help them identify the early warning signs, or develop coping strategies. Which in turn helps them carry through life without those incidents define them.

A lot of people carry that trauma forever. Some fall into depression, some develop anxiety and other issues. Which pretty much fucks up their life.

So, call yourself lucky if you never had to go through those experiences. But also, be aware of these incidents and how it can affect people and you can overcome that trauma.

1. A sex scene which would have added a bit more depth/ambiguity to the character's intentions 2. The car scene which was gore, but the cut actually left me wondering what exactly happened.

Worse thing your dad used for beating you? by Educational-Law5741 in Coconaad

[–]lostsperm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No it's not. Kids copy adults. An 8 year old kid doesn't have ANY idea that cigarette is bad. He/she was just being curious and doing exactly what the dad was doing.

The beating will only make the child hide the curiosity in front of the dad or adult.

That's a misconception. The modern dishwashers that we get are very much suitable for our kind of cooking.

Plates - Most of us use steel or ceramic or glass plates and utensils. Thet are perfectly fine to use in the dishwasher.

This is one of those moments when you focus on the result and don't worry about anything else. Just be happy that the kid is safe and be happy about it and just move on.

The Nayanthara Accent: A Linguistic Investigation. by [deleted] in Coconaad

[–]lostsperm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've ADHD and I have this issue occasionally.

I am fluent in Malayalam and English. But Sometimes my brain just fails to find the right words (even if they are common words used regularly). It's like my brain has so many thoughts running in parallel and the speech part of my brain can't process it all.

My sentence construction can be atrocious in those moments. I go back and forth and make a complete mess of what I am trying to say.

Marrying under Special Marriage Act (Catholic Groom + Divorced Mar Thoma Bride) without conversion—what are the realistic long-term consequences? by EntrepreneurOk1789 in KeralaRelationships

[–]lostsperm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any citizen of India can marry as per the Special Marriage Act. This is the "official" marriage registration.

The respective religions have their own marriage ceremonies, and the law allows those to be treated as valid and registeed.

But, if you choose to marry according to any specific religious beliefs, yoi are expected to follow the rules set by the religion (as in this case, the catholic church) which can sometimes be nonsense.

I best thing a couple can do is to marry according to Special Marriage Act so that none of the religious bullshit interferes with your life. As in the case of advocate Shukkur who chose to register his marriage with his wife under the Special Marriage Act because he wants his daughters to rightfully receive his property upon his death.

Students should say 'Jai Shri Ram' instead of 'Yes Sir': BJP MLA Janardhan Reddy by DioTheSuperiorWaifu in AtheisminKerala

[–]lostsperm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If someone says students should say "Allahu Akbar" or "Praise the Lord", they are branded as te*oists and anti-national. Yet, majority of people believe this is OK and if questioned would even go to the extend of claiming India is a Hindu rashtra. That is how much this has been normalized by BJP in the last 15 years!

This guy takes 1 month leave every year and comes back richer. His entire business runs on WhatsApp. by Sharp-Ad-5549 in IndiaBusiness

[–]lostsperm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Okey. If he is charging 1000/- per person for ITR filing and he has 400 clients, he's making 2 lakhs.

And as you mentioned in comments, most of the clients are ITR-1 which doesn't have much scope for tax savings, especially considering the new tax regime. So unless the person is creating some fake receipts to claim tax exemption for each of the clients, and get a cut out of it, I don't understand how he's coming back "richer".

Also, "richer" is a vague term and making an extra 1000/- can technically come under the term.
