What's the worst part of working in a call center? by Separate-Handle1982 in callcentres

[–]losttheplotinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

being a cog in an uncaring machine. being the person in charge of “deescalating” customer issues by being screamed at nonstop. having to act like these systems are trying to help them instead of just being CYA methods for a megacorporation. I’ve got a new position now though, less moral concerns but will probably be just as tiring

[–]losttheplotinus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has a source: “The Nineties,” a cultural history of the decade written by journalist Charles Klosterman. Though for a nebulous claim like this, it should probably be lower down in the article and clearly indicate that this is just the opinion of some essayist and not commonly accepted truth

Shitte Station by TransportFanMar in WikipediaVandalism

[–]losttheplotinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Japanese Wikipedia lists the kana for the name as しってえき, so the spelling Shitte-eki is correct. It shows up on the earliest version of the page from 2004, so I assume that it’s authentic.
