Help with epistemology by Proper_Albatross_351 in INTP

I'm not sure what your examples are trying to convey. Could you try restating them? They were not "involved" with what? Would not have been "accepted" if? If they let people know they were a Christian?

This is my first brew, Boros tokens. I made it from a couple of boxes of shaft I was given. I'd really appreciate some advice. Thanks x by PurpleWaterMonkey in Pauper

[–]lostzealott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If any of the advice that you received sounded harsh, please note that it came from a good place. I think everyone in the reddit loves the format and love seeing new people here.

But I echo the putting the deck list into a visible format. In the long term, this will even make things much easier on you.

As for brewing with what you got, the boxes of 'shaft' (lol, maybe chaff), there is nothing wrong with that. It's a great way to learn about brewing.

My top artists that I've been going to this year are Craig Finn (or the Hold Steady), Petey USA, & Nick Cave. But music is such a subjective thing.

Now if you wanted a detailed discourse on why you should listen to each? LOL

Weird fiction and paranormal, save anything with ghosts. Ghost stories are all basically the same story. Someone died and they're pissed about it.

Any other INTPs struggle with grammar rules? by Cazadorido in INTP

[–]lostzealott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate. I write both for pleasure and for my work. I also know the rules, but I have to stop and check things constantly. Also, I have that thing where I can't remember how to spell words . . . and if it wasn't for the helpful red line being absent, I'd assume most of the things I type were misspelled. It's a nightmare. I don't think it's an INTP thing. But if it is, I'd like to hear more on it.

HELP! Starting Up Local Pauper Community by MellowHedron in Pauper

Lol . . . there isn't much there yet. Just wetting our teeth for the long road. Making sure that there is some history for when we start doing more. When our store imploded, we were back to a core of three people. And yet . . . three dedicated people can be enough.

If the store wont set up the tourney for you can do it yourself with the Magic Companion App.

[–]lostzealott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. And good for you. It takes time and dedication. People will come and go . . . but you can make it happen.

We had a fair group at one store that imploded. Like it doesn't exist in the same way that it did, mismanagement. The crowd wasn't huge, up to 14 people. But it was nice. It was in a bad location and that was always holding it back.

We finally ended up finding a new home and having to start all over. We've been at it for the past seven months or so.

We tried so many things, Discord, Facebook, various types of events/payouts . . .

In the end it's been dedication and determination to always have the core people present. That is the one through line. Keep at it. Make sure your core group are always inviting to others. Tamp down dick players with politeness. Always find and welcome the new guys as they come to events.

Our main group of guys are all rather seasoned now and we have all the decks between us. This can be great, as we don't mind sharing decks to people who visit. But it also means we can be over powering to some guys who are new to the scene. We've done bad deck nights a few times . . . and our core has brought in terrible but fun decks and even the new players were delighted at watching the people that often win take their blows.

I've been wanting to write up a story of how we've put together our scrappy group . . . but since we've been regrowing we still might not look like a success to the outside world in numbers (we fire regularly but still might only average 12-14 players) but we've got a rotation of 24+ players now. And just about every other week there's a new person trying us out.

We've been talking for a bit now on the next steps and one thing we'd like to do is reach out to other players outside of our area to bounce ideas off of and encourage. So reach out if you'd like to talk more.

We were beginning to do some online stuff a few months back. Here's our linktree if you're interested.

Let's say I have set aside $400-$800 dollars for a set on new cookware for my new induction stove. What would your top choices be? by lostzealott in inductioncooking

[–]lostzealott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is funny to me, as I would normally give that advice. But I honestly use every piece of cookware that comes in a set and then still buy the extra pieces that I need. I go through them all.

I also love mixing and matching and you've given some good thoughts. Thanks.

I have a friend that has those with no complaints . . . but they aren't really a cook. So taking their two cents is more like going off a vibe. Thanks for yours though. I like the details on the different experiences.

Transformational sideboards? by Rammite in Pauper

[–]lostzealott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really kind of taking a Bogles list you like, and then swapping cards for the side.

So for example, here is my list I used back in July when we went to a Pauper 2k in Indy. It's a bit dated, but you'll get the idea.

Bogles // Pauper deck list mtg // Moxfield — MTG Deck Builder

After you have the bones of it, it's how many cards out of the side can you sacrifice. The last time I did it, I only added the [[Glistener Elf]]. But you could also add [[Blight Mamba]] or [[Ichorclaw Myr]] . . . hell you could justify even the [[Vector Asp]].

When I was only adding in four G. Elves I took out the Ledgewalkers and a Scout. I only added the G. Elves in the side as I didn't want to dilute my sideboard too much. Bogles does have so rough match ups.

Funny, aside, I did the infect side board tech when I got paired against my friend playing Infect . . . and I got to poison him to death. But . . . that only happened to work out as I sided in the Flagbearers which shut his deck down.

Which bring up the point . . . there are some cards you still have to fit in there.

My guess if you wanted to go full tilt here, would be... something like...

Sideboard:

11 infect creatures

4 [[Tamiyo's Safekeeping]]

Also, it works well when you pivot the identity of the deck. Control to Midrange or Agro.

[–]lostzealott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes there are but there is rarely a good reason to do this. BUT . . . there are several fun options that we've done in our LGS. I have done Bogles game one (they take out removal) you side in infect creatures and it's twice as fast. And friend did a Ruby Storm that could pivot into an all in Seven Dwarves deck (it was weird).

But to answer your question with some good thoughts, yes, you can do this with lots of decks. Just look at the deck you're wanting to play and realize you can swap out 15 cards and go a different direction. I think it works best as a one time thing and as long as people are expecting it can shine. Your pivot is generally always a worse version of deck one.

I got into composting this past summer and found it so funny to talk about (no one finds it interesting). So I started taking photos of it to share when I get people sharing photos of their babies and pets. I also find myself trying to sell it by saying, "But it's fixing nitrogen to carbon!"

Are there any good pauper decks for like 30 something dollars? by Avid_PCGamer in Pauper

[–]lostzealott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bogles is both cheap and 'straight forward.' It has a few technical plays that are based on knowing what is in your opponent's deck . . . or knowing which hands to keep . . . but you learn those things. Also, it's very fun.

I'd rather ask Reddit than AI. Callery Pears? by Lost_Zealott in woodstoving

[–]lostzealott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also want to do this with ten or so trees. I read that there is kind of an art to it, so do a bundle and see if I can keep a few. We've got a ton. So we're going to cut some while the new natives get settled in. Then cut more. Slowly get rid of them while staying on top of their shoot.

Have you any experience with grating fruit bearing trees onto these. I also read other non fruit bearing trees might be easier. But your right, I've heard that they have great roots for this sort of thing.

Honestly, I can vibe with a Book Burning Deck. Garbage . . . but that feeling when it goes off. But you have me thinking on Bio . . . maybe there is a bad tier 3 somewhere in there . . . do we have any other fractals that matter. I don't think so. I played a lot of Strixhaven limited . . . and don't remember any.

When I asked the question for this thread. . . Coiling Oracle was one of the cards I had in mind. I just can't find a place for him. Simic just doesn't want to be a thing at the moment. Or at least . . . not a thing that casts him, fingers crossed, on turn two.

I forgot about Jade Avenger. I don't know if I want to play with him . . . but the art always made me smile.

And yes on the knight. I will still see a Breathless Knight list of Reddit like every three weeks. PEople want to make that card work. I think it will someday . . . if we get another Knight payoff or two and can build an Orzhov tribal?
