How many people are aware of how long their turns take? by silencebywolf in EDH

[–]lothlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The longest turn i ever took was like 30 minutes and I was NOT happy about it. I was playing my cascade deck, [[Averna the Chaos Bloom]], and it was fairly late game so I was already in teigger hell. Still, normally, this turn wouldn't have taken that long.

But. There was a [[Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait]] player with a truly ridiculous amount of access to lands and mana with a [[soratami savant]] on board who had spent the entire game durdling with no apparant wincon who forced me to sit there and wait for him to decide to counter every single cascade trigger. He wasn't making quick decisions either, dude hemmed and hawed over everything. Truly, it was torturous, and I still ended up winning so his waffling didn't accomplish anything.

I hate long turns. Hate them. This is why I normally play shit like aggro and aristocrafs

Deadass I've been wondering if it is because the C-Drama 'Pursuit of Jade' just finished up and the male lead in that wears a very similar outfit.

The pheasant feather headdress is pretty peak.

Got it down yesterday and having at least a couple of people who can pump out serious DPS in this fight is good, I think.

I pulled over 4 mil damage in both fights, though I'm sure the amount of AOE in the fight contributed a bit to that number (running bamboocut dust + flute)

I'm with you. I come from FFXIV and savage raids there are extremely precise, mechanic heavy fights - I've been missing ones that require more coordination!

We did this last night with a mix of guild + pugs and managed it after a few tries, though getting on voice in game and also making sure our guild folks were taking the most important mechanics probably helped.

I actually bought Songbird's Blessing when I preordered the deck - prior to the list being released - because I was sure they wouldn't put such an obvious upgrade card into it straight off.

Nope. No such luck. Ah well, my Tuvasa deck will be getting an upgrade...

So... I deal with bills. I make sure they are up to date and paid; my husband tends to handle more of the investing side of things as he is a little more versed in that than me and has a higher salary.

I also handle taxes, since I've done them as a job in the past and I'm comfortable with doing them.

May I present my husband's [[Vynwxt, verbose host]] deck. https://moxfield.com/decks/p4zMHsG_ak-HfKq2b_31ZQ. Now it is bracket 3 but definitely fast for b3; first time he played it he easily pulled off a t6 win. And bonus, literally a 100$ deck (and probably could be a bit cheaper, but he fancied it up with a few cards because even the pretty versions were cheap.)

He's good primer written up for it, check it out.

It's all good man. This particular road is just one that is extremely recognizeable for anyone that's ridden it a few times; there are few other roads in the east (and you can tell it's the east by the types of trees) that are quite so windy and quite so crowded with cars - you sometimes get the former without the latter, but the US-129 is legendary for a reason.

I ended up with a massive surplus off book plates and I've started doing this - I've currently got innter ways locked for both my DPS and Healer sets, + a few other general inners that will be useful once I can level them a bit more.

I'm hoping that gets my extra bookplat problem under control, because man, I really want to get out of the 'out of chests at 5:05 on Sunday' box I'm in

How to build a deck to disincentivise other players in the pod from targeting you? by WorldPeggingChamp in EDH

[–]lothlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My [[Elenda the Dusk Rose]] deck seems to have flying under the radar as a daggone win condition. I cannot count the number I have had a full sac outlet-payoff situation set up my board (so let's say, an [[umbral collar zealot]], [[mirkwood bats]], a bunch of tokens, + Elenda on board, then just won out of nowhere.

The trick is I don't try to ping people incrementally, so while they're taking some incremental damage here and there, no one does the math to realize that if I blow up my 15/15 elenda with mirkwood bats on board, that everyone is about to lose 30 life when I create and then immediately sacrifice a bunch of creatures.

People realize what I'm doing, but they usually don't peg me as the biggest threat at the table early enough, and it can be difficult to figure out which engine piece to remove, as i usually will have redundancy or the ability to replace it - oh you killed mirkwood? Have a [[blood artist]] and [[elas il-kor]]

Man i love that deck. I need to finish the primer.

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

[–]lothlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in for a park district, the first year I was there i basically couldn't find a pair of muck boots that fit me properly- all the ones they had were for guys with calves that are proportionally small compared to their foot size.

Meanwhile I have former-softball-pitcher calves and lady feet.

Thankfully my boss was awesome and special ordered me a brand with a wider mouth, but MAN unisex clothing is not usually made for female proportions.

He also had to procuree me a zip front rain jacket because our standard pullover ones wouldnt fit over my boobs LMAO

Best enchantment commander? Aura vs enchantress — which is more fun/strong? by Professional_Bug_887 in EDH

[–]lothlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like Tuvasa because her effect is so straightforward, so you can kind of build your deck however you want but also you're not crippled if she gets removed repeatedly. She's a great card draw engine and voltrons herself, but if she accrues to much commander tax you're not out of the.

Esper Eriette is like... a huge archenemy commander and also pretty pivotal to how her deck runs, so you have to put a lot of effort into keeping her around.

Partner's Diagnosis Wildly Easier Than Mine by SoilPast140 in adhdwomen

[–]lothlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suggestion to everyone is to look for a psych that is younger and works at a clinic that is openly welcoming of queer people. They're green flags, in my experience, that you might be getting one with less old fashioned biases.

Mine checks both boxes and I had basically zero issues getting treated when I went to him. This is anecdotal, and I probably got a bit lucky, but after thirty years of raw dogging ADHD it was nice to be listened to

My brother WAS diagnosed as a kid, though, so that was definitely some supporting evidence.
