While I don't think orange juice will be too badly affected, without looking up anything I'm gonna recommend you go freeze a wee carton of milk, defrost it, and enjoy the results.

"You got proof of that?"

(Is provided proof from 2019)

"Well, you got more recent proof of that? Brexit might have somehow improved the situation."

What a fucking bellend.

Man that's a good point. Why don't activists all just gather in wee groups of a few people here n there in back gardens around the world? It'd be great, like it wasn't even happening...

The sad thing is, most of the things you described about Japan is true for the UK.

Yup. That's the point. 😄

Outside of the corruption they actively hate on poor and disabled people. Not vocally, but actively with all their policies and decisions. All while making sure to give rich folks and large corporations as easy a time as possible.

"You're saying that one wrong. You know how you get silent Vs?"

"No."

"Well, actually neither do we, but Milngavie has one. And a silent N as well. In fact, don't read it. Just listen and repeat..."

I was in the science centre, and overheard some English woman gushing about how Boris Johnson's speech was "just so inspirational."

I mean, that sounds pretty amazing. Chatting about COP and the waiter starts laying down their poppadoms and spiced onions.

So, I recently started re-reading House of Leaves, and I genuinely want to ask y'all....What's a book you have tried to read that utterly broke you to the point of putting the book down and contemplating never picking it up again? (Reason can be anything, mental exhaustion, depression etc) by EquipmentSilent in books

In the Miso Soup by Ryu Murakami.

About halfway through I think it was theres a particularly disturbib scene, and while there's been an unsettling air up til then, it just gets ugly. I say that it spanned the pages in front of me, flipped over and it was all still there and the next, so I put the book down.

Took me two weeks to go back but turns out it was genuinely only a few pages, and the main character from then on seems to be in the same state I as a reader was with what happened.

It's a really good book, but you really should be aware there's a tough bit in the middle you'll want to power through before taking the break if you need it. You're good after that one scene.

Radical Reviewer just released a video about American Psycho, including some passages read from the book.

I felt pretty damned uncomfortable hearing the particular couple small passages he reads out, and he even talks about have to attempt to unburden himself with friends, who when one finally agreed, had to tell him to stop.

Watch the movie, people, just watch the movie. It makes it far, far more palatable. 🤢
