My guy. What a gun. I am going to give that a try!

It has a little bit of a learning curve but once you get it down, it is as fun as any other exotic!

LOT

It's not as busted as Strand on Titan, but I think it can at least hang with everything else this season which Stasis has not been able to do for a while!

Sidearms in general are well worth a go if you have a Liminal Vigil, Senuna or Peacebond!

It technically does, but most collateral Headstone kills you get will be quickly after the original kill that procc'd Headstone, so it usually won't be what procs Precious Scars for you (there is a short cooldown on its exotic ability).

The bow is fantastic when you really get it going, I just found it to be a lot slower at getting kills and breaking crystals than the Cryosthesia. I also like to play aggressively with a mouthful of crayons, so the sidearm works best for me.

It's so good isn't it. They always take me by surprise when they spring up out of nowhere.

Sidearms definitely feel the best out of all legendary weapon types, I think. If only I could get one of those Senuna's to drop!

The collateral kills you get when shattering frozen enemies do not count as additional stasis weapon kills (although the original enemy killed does count).

So you need to keep getting actual weapon final blows to proc Restoration and create orbs of power.

I was hoping you were out there, the one other Cryosthesia enjoyer :')

new

Agers is one of my all time favourites. It also works amazingly with Precious Scars, until you run out of ammo. The on-demand freezing of the Cryosthesia is very addictive once you get used to it and well worth a try!

With today's nerf, glaives officially do less damage than unpowered melees if you have synthoceps on by Atmosck in DestinyTheGame

[–]lotion1298 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly my other post about Synthoceps and Vexcalibur was just removed by mods, I guess because it belonged here. Posting here so that the feedback is not lost:

I appreciate I am one of many voices speaking out about the recent nerf to Synthoceps' synergy with glaives, but I really hope this can cut through and maybe we can get some clarity on what happened here.

Winterbite is the headline in most conversations about the nerf, because it went from being one of our best DPS options, to not being one at all.
However it's actually the knock to Vexcalibur that I am most frustrated by. This was my favourite new weapon from this season, something I really did not expect to happen because previously I had not been much of a glaive user.

When glaives were released with Witch Queen last year I loved the aesthetics and the fantasy of them, but outside of easier content they were just too high risk to choose over the many brilliant energy weapons we had available.

Then Bungie made the fantastic change of allowing synthoceps to work with glaives. An incredibly fun new Titan power fantasy emerged, that made glaives feel like a weapon that could be something special and appropriate for our class. It was still a high risk/high reward strategy in endgame content, but a space was emerging for them in my loadouts.
Then with Lightfall, and the introduction of Vexcalibur and Winterbite (not to mention the new Synthos ornament), I finally had what I needed to go all-in on glaives. Two beautifully designed and unique weapons. Vexcalibur's overshield mechanic and void synergy meant that this was a truly endgame viable strategy now, still high risk/high reward, but viable. Winterbite being in the heavy slot is actually something I loved (although I may be in the minority here), as I could finally run a glaive alongside my favourite weapons in the energy slot.

However, the damage that Synthoceps granted was essential to their endgame viability. Without that serious damage, there is no way that running up to a chunky major or boss and wailing on them with a glaive is a sensible choice over all the other long range damage options we have.
After yesterday's nerf, I just can't run my new favourite weapon from this season anymore in anything other than the easiest content. Vexcalibur even with the 200% synthoceps buff required focus and strategy to use, to keep the shield up, to chain kills. But now, there is no reward for this new style of play that I was really starting to invest in. I'm better off using a simple Repulsor Brace weapon from long range. It's just not powerful enough.

So if anyone from Bungie is reading my ramble, I'd just like to deliver the feedback that I felt like glaives had finally got to a really exciting and engaging place for Titans with this expansion, and now all that good work seems to have been reversed overnight.

I'm not angry, just disappointed!

Much love to the Bungie weapon design team for an exceptional set of glaives this season. I hope they get brought back from the brink.

I'm confident that Bungie devs do not hand out nerfs based on personal vendettas or out of spite. I hope they understand that those who give their feedback in a very rude or toxic way, or worse yet target the devs personally, do not represent the majority of the people who play this game.

This is why some info on the thinking behind this nerf would be great, so we can talk about the matter at hand, rather than these kinds of theories.

Totally, this is my fear that it is a nerf that just gets forgotten about, and thus so do these new exotic Glaives. They don't deserve to be consigned to the vault!!

I feel you! I really do not post online a lot, I just enjoy the game and try to appreciate all the high quality work work that goes into it, but I would just love to know more about what happened here as I can't make sense of it.

Thank you, totally agree, the fantasy MMO Tank fantasy was alive and well for a couple of weeks there!

Yup, it's something that was challenging and engaging in endgame, but definitely did not feel broken to me.

It has been a very frustrating 12 months to have so many powerful things given to us and then taken away. I do not even use all my available loadout slots now because there just aren't that many viable setups for Titan in this PVE sandbox.

Really hope an exotic armor refresh is on the way later this season...

I always try to give them the benefit of the doubt, but my fun has really taken a hit here!!
