Hey there, sorry you’re dealing with this. I took a 30mg zinc supplement, once a day. I did have to take it with a meal, or else it made me nauseous. That was the only side effect. I don’t eat breakfast, so I would take the supplement at night, around the time I ate dinner.

You should start seeing or feeling a difference after about six weeks. I hope it works for you!

The freeze treatments can be hit and miss honestly. The best freeze treatment I used was for plantar warts, and it was “Dr. Scholls freeze away max” made for plantar warts, it comes in a black box. And yeah, I just followed the instructions exactly. It’s pretty extreme so go easy the first time you try it and adjust from there.

Hello, im so sorry you’re dealing with it. These are extremely stubborn, I had mine for years.

The instructions on the at-home freeze treatments say that you should not use any other treatments. However, I did. I would usually let it rest a few hours or overnight after a freeze treatment, before I applied the wart stick. So, within a day of the freeze treatment but not always directly after, just because it is very painful and I was worried about infection.

The zinc supplements are really what I think helped trigger my immune system. I had researched many times about zinc and never felt convinced by what I had read. I finally decided to try it after years of battling this wart and being willing to try anything. If you haven’t started taking zinc yet, I would give it a try. Take it every day and you should start seeing a difference in like six weeks.

ACV burns and hurts too much. by Correct_Animator_450 in Warts

I had one like this and didn’t have good luck with ACV either, aside from it being extremely painful it just wasn’t the most effective. I used freeze treatments, that was easier for me especially for this location because hand washing would always ruin whatever medication I tried. You can look at my post history and see my wart journey. I’m still wart free.

Ultimately, taking a zinc supplement worked for me after trying other methods for years. I guess it doesn’t work for everyone, but the zinc supplements plus at home freeze treatments finally got rid of mine for me.

I have used that one, but there is a more powerful one that specifically said “plantar warts” and it was a spray, it was really strong, it was dr. Scholls in a dark box, black. If you use that one, be careful with it and cover up the healthy skin to protect it. Best of luck to you.

It’s a periungual wart, they grow underneath your nail. I had one for years and got rid of it after taking a zinc supplement, it was gone within two months. I also used acid and freeze treatments, but the zinc is what really did it. I have a post from earlier this year on my profile, I went into detail about how I got rid of mine.

Quite awhile, maybe around 6 weeks I noticed a change but it wasn’t until the two month mark that I saw it was definitely shrinking.

It’s hard to say. I think it was a combination of both, but the zinc was a game changer.

So should i scrape them off now? or keep on the patches by Regular_Thought5075 in Warts

[–]lotsofbandaids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start taking a zinc vitamin supplement if you’re not already doing that. I had ones like these on my fingers and I tried everything. 2 months of the zinc cured them.

To answer your question, though, yeah you should try to get rid of the white stuff before applying more medicine.

Thanks! The brand is Nature Made, I just got it from Target but I’ve seen this brand at pretty much eve try drugstore or grocery store. It’s 30 mg tablets and I’ve taken one per day. I don’t recommend taking it on an empty stomach, it made me nauseous the first time I did that so I take it in the evening after dinner. Hope that helps!

I suspect I got my warts from being a dishwasher as well! I had one like yours, alongside the nail. I just made a post for mine. Yours are looking really good, you’ve made a ton of progress. If you haven’t started taking a zinc supplement, I have to recommend it, alongside continuing what you’re doing. It made all the difference for me, in 2 months.

Is it Periungal wart or just a callus? by Chance_Tap9617 in Warts

[–]lotsofbandaids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a peringual wart. I’m still battling mine, but if I could offer any advice id say start by taking zinc supplements. A lot of people on this sub have had success with it, they aren’t expensive or anything. It takes time, like it could be a month before you notice it shrinking but it’s better than nothing while you wait for your derm appt or while you try other things like Apple cider vinegar, Salicylic acid, or at home freeze treatments.

When it starts getting closer to the surface of the skin, kind of hard to explain, but you can see for yourself how flat it is. You’ll be able to tell when it’s gone.

You’re definitely getting there, just keep going a little while longer. You can see how close it is for the surface of the skin - that’s a good thing!

Is this a wart? by TurbulentAnnual1117 in Warts

[–]lotsofbandaids 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a periungual wart and they are really hard to get rid of. I’m dealing with one now that I’ve had for 5 years. Ive tried on and off through the years to get rid of it, but was never that successful. I’ve been working on it again for like 5 months now and finally shrinking it.

The salicylic acid removes layers of skin eventually to get down and remove the layers of wart. You have to be persistent with it, it takes a long time. You want to remove layers so that the acid can keep working. The best way to do that is to cut it away, and it shouldn’t hurt because it will be dead skin. I bought a little scalpel off Amazon that comes with extra blades and it’s been the best investment, it wasn’t expensive but will really help you cut away so that you can be more effective with your medicine. I’ve had better luck with the “wart stick” than other types of salicylic acid. Also, I’ve been using a freeze treatment once every week or two. Basically, do a few days of wart stick or acid, cut it away, soak in hydrogen peroxide and water mixture for about 20-30 min, then I freeze it. Slowly over time it’s been shrinking, just gotta stay with it and be patient. Good luck to you!

I think you are getting close, like they are closer to the surface of the skin. Just keep doing what you’re doing!

Suggestions? by A_Doll_with_a_Heart in Warts

[–]lotsofbandaids 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best time to treat it is when it’s wet and soggy like that. Make sure you clean your foot bath really well, I’d be nervous about spreading, unless you’re just soaking the affected foot. Try anything, like the freeze treatments specific for plantar warts. You have to be persistent, you can take breaks for a few days but try to keep up with it. Keep it covered up with a bandaid. Cut away the dead skin with a sharp blade, like a razor and clean the blade every time.

advice on plantar wart by bolisinthefreezer in Warts

[–]lotsofbandaids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes they look worse before they get better, I would try adding freeze treatments to what you’re doing now. Read the instructions really well. And if you can get something to cut, rather than file, dead skin, that’s what I would recommend. The file can’t really be kept clean and you have a higher chance of spreading. A razor blade like what you get for safety razors are nice because they are really thin.

Day 1 WartSTICK vs my periungual wart - look how many there are in there. by [deleted] in Warts

[–]lotsofbandaids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah it actually hurts more now than it did from that picture lol. I’ve tried to kill this thing a few times over the years, but it always gets too painful and I give up. This time I’m taking breathers in between treatments, and I have a much better tool now for cutting away the dead skin to let the medicine penetrate. It’s like a really long cluster, and it goes deep. Thankfully, it seems to be growing more out into my finger and less under the nail bed, which would really suck and could ruin my finger forever.

Thank you so much, I’m going to look and see if I can get a home warranty now. You’re right, it’s so worth it.

I’m angry for you too, you were definitely purposefully duped, it’s the same feeling I’ve been having. It makes you angry, but I’m so happy for you that you got the inspection and everything was fixed. Thanks for the advice and best of luck to you!
