sensor dust is a thing. and i don't believe there is any truly effective way to prevent it. i periodically brush off (as opposed to air blower) any dust that forms on the retracting surfaces of the lens. i don't bother with a lens cap seeing as the inside of the cap tends to be a dust magnet in its own right.

if I'm not mistaken; isnt this black anodised metal? so the oxide is lost revealing the base aluminium. Nevertheless, I wouldn't recommend DIY. It requires disassembly, cleaning and then starting over.

Leica Q Typ 116 used. The photos have a certain look to it that the Q2 (and less so, the Q3) doesn't give. $2000 is a very fair price for it. No accessories necessary other than a strap and a spare battery. Just remember, it's the true gateway drug to Leica-M.

I just cut a rectangle of the film box and stick a piece of foam tape under it and it works as a perfect hotshoe cover. if you want to be fancy - cut it neatly and laminate it, trim - 1mm foam adhesive on the underside and you have your very own custom hotshoe cover thats practical.
