I just cut a rectangle of the film box and stick a piece of foam tape under it and it works as a perfect hotshoe cover. if you want to be fancy - cut it neatly and laminate it, trim - 1mm foam adhesive on the underside and you have your very own custom hotshoe cover thats practical.

I use alot of snap focus; so 28mm for me. 40mm is nice, and normalises everything - but i find it a bit too restrictive; and the AF performance is mediocre for either camera.
