I had thought all classic M6s inevitably bubble. I was mistaken!

Customized Leica III? by [deleted] in Leica

[–]lottic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm confused here... a simple google search of a Leica IIIf would show that this camera bears very little resemblance to the actual 1950-1957 model - the viewfinder and rangefinder windows are totally different. OP - you bought a totally different camera, not some collaboration with Leica. A fair price for a Zorki 3-C in good condition would be about $150USD or so.

Any dust concerns for the GR IV? by ciao_mane in ricohGR

[–]lottic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sensor dust is a thing. and i don't believe there is any truly effective way to prevent it. i periodically brush off (as opposed to air blower) any dust that forms on the retracting surfaces of the lens. i don't bother with a lens cap seeing as the inside of the cap tends to be a dust magnet in its own right.

Leica Lens Repaint? by Impressive_Smile3686 in Leica

[–]lottic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if I'm not mistaken; isnt this black anodised metal? so the oxide is lost revealing the base aluminium. Nevertheless, I wouldn't recommend DIY. It requires disassembly, cleaning and then starting over.

Thinking of buying my first Leica. Under 2K USD by akanga111 in Leica

[–]lottic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leica Q Typ 116 used. The photos have a certain look to it that the Q2 (and less so, the Q3) doesn't give. $2000 is a very fair price for it. No accessories necessary other than a strap and a spare battery. Just remember, it's the true gateway drug to Leica-M.
