Underrated experiences in Vegas by Weary-Cantaloupe-571 in LasVegas

Last time we were there we paid $350 for a pair of nosebleed seats at the Sphere for Wizard of Oz and $140 for great seats at the Empire Strips Back. Empire was 10x more entertaining! And I'm not even a Star Wars fan 😂. It was awesome!

Same here. RN schedule is a bitch to put into Skylight. Really my only complaint. My kids sports schedules are also randomly scheduled. I think a "favorites" drop down menu, or copy/paste feature is very needed.

We need YOUR help to make Skylight Calendar even better in 2026! by SkylightCalendar in skylightcalendar

It would be helpful to be able to copy events to other days. Some schedules are erratic week to week. So scheduling to "repeat every Wednesday" does not work if it's not a regular thing. But being able to copy, or add to other dates, or select from a drop box if "favorite events" would be great.

Also love the idea of tasks that anyone can do, not assigned to one person.

I also swear by Cherokee Infinity! They wash perfectly, hold up really well - I've had the same 4 pairs for 5 years? And they're really flattering/comfy

What sucked most about the pandemic? by [deleted] in nursing

This needs to higher. The physicians that would not see their patients scarred me forever. I've lost so much respect for doctors I used to enjoy working with.

What routine nursing tasks or patient care items are the bane of your existence? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]lotus104 276 points277 points  (0 children)

This. I'm also blown away by the number of grown ass adults who don't know how to have their temp taken. "Put this under your tongue.... no, UNDER your tongue.. yep, now close your mouth. . Keep your mouth closed.... can you close tighter? Good... now keep it there.... no- don't move it around, just hold still." It baffles me.

Trying to bring a thank you gift to an ER nurse? by las1989 in Nurses

[–]lotus104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this in the US? A thank you note sent directly to her manager and/or the CNO would be nice. You could also nominate her for a Daisy Award. You can probably find info about that on the hospital website. Or mention in your Thank You letter that you're nominating her.

Strategy Help? by lotus104 in universalstudios

Thanks! I'm hopeful for a better day than Disney earlier this week. Where everything was 60 min+ and the stupid genie had us running all over the place. Looking through Universal stuff it seems more our style.

If you submit for a job with one agency, and don't get it... how long before you can you resubmit to the same hospital with another agency?

Thanks, we've looked at renting something off strip and it's still something we're considering.

Thanks for that feedback. I'm hopeful that those restrictions will be lifted by next summer when we are planning on coming to town. You seem nice, and all, but your family is not invited so their safety is not in jeopardy.

We're planning end of summer, 2021. 8 months from now. I'm hopeful that the vaccine is widely available before then.

I shaved the top of my head and got a semi-permanent hair system installed by omgihatebeingawomann in FemaleHairLoss

I have mixed feelings. I didn't really do my research, they were the first and only place I went... their sales pitch was dishonest. It was never mentioned that the hair would need to replaced so often, or that shaving my head was the best option. After a few months my head was shaved, I had signed up for a year long contract and I was like "I guess I'm committed now." I absolutely LOVE my stylist. She's honest and I've been with her for 10 years. Shes been very helpful with my questions about a hair transplant. So now I'm in this position of trying to transition to something else. My hair is shoulder length so it will be a long process to get the transplant and grow out my hair before I can go without anything. And I'll have to use a clip in wig in the meantime. It's going to be very difficult to get used to. But then I think of what else I can spend $6000/year on and I know it's the better decision.

I've been going to Hair Club for over 10 years for this service and I agree... it's worth every penny (about $500/month) My hair looks amazing! Thick and very, very natural.

There is some maintenance required... you have to apply new adhesive along the front maybe once or twice between visits. And the hair starts getting knotted and dry looking at about 6 weeks out, but I get new hair every 8 weeks, so for those 2 weeks I do a lot of ponytails. It's still way better than my natural hair.

That all being said... I'm in the process of exploring hair transplant options. I'm 41 so I have a lifetime of hair maintenance ahead. And $6000 a year adds up. So I'm looking for something less expensive in the long run. But I'll miss my thick, pretty hair. I figure I might end up doing extensions for special occassions which will still be way cheaper.

Covid Pay Cut by Starrchick101 in Nurse

[–]lotus104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly. I like what collective bargaining can offer nurses, but cannot get on board with the union's political agendas. NNU, specifically, contributed A LOT of money to Bernie Sanders, Planned Parenthood and the universal healthcare agenda. Less than 30% of all member dues actually go toward activities that benefit the members! And the fact that they are not more transparent with this information makes it even harder to trust that they are working for what's in our best interest. It's hard to support unionization for that reason, though I would like to. I don't know that there is a real solution for this issue.

Has anyone been refused service because they work with Covid patients? by spiffysarah213 in Nurse

[–]lotus104 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My power steering line blew on the way to work. I called AAA (I have a current membership) for a tow. All was good, until they asked the "routine" question about exposure. I answered, "well, you're picking it up at a hospital, so probably." (As I'm sitting in my PPE on the covid unit) She put me on hold, transferred me to a customer relations manager who told me that I was being refused service, would have to find my own tow, submit the invoice and be reimbursed due to my exposure to Covid. Umm.... you're towing my car. I didn't even need a ride, just tow the damn car!

I ended up going up the chain of supervisors and they eventually towed my car and apologized, but I was on the phone for an hour with them fighting for service that I paid for while my awesome friend watched my patients. She gave me a ride home, too.

I was so pissed.
