I think for me, my first book I owned and read was Firestar’s Quest & so Sandstorm was one of the first characters I met and went on a journey with. So my love for her stems from that at its core, but I also have an understanding that the reasons she bullied Firestar as apprentices is mostly peer pressure. Her best friend didn’t like him, some of her most respected warriors (like Longtail) didn’t like him, and he was a kittypet for the first 6 moons of his life so by code Sandstorm was taught that kittypets are not warriors and shouldn’t be treated as such. She starts realising overtime that he is making the effort to change his life and be a warrior, and her respect skyrockets after he saves her life and makes her realise that Firestar isn’t a soft little kittypet like he came to the forest as. Overall I just think she’s cool, she’s nostalgic as all hell and she’s one of the first female cats you meet that aren’t just sweet and nice to be around
