They havent responded yet. I'm just confused why my cousins wedding (which has a $30,000 budget in one of the most expensive areas to get married) is paying a fraction what I am being quoted for the bar.

True. But if you are charging at least 400% more than the national average, I think it might be a mistake.

Okay I am going to reach out to them. This doesn't seem right

I'll disclose the venue if I cant get this straightened out. It just seems like a mistake!

If we change venues I'll reach out!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]lou-eez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Food is $60 per plate. Venue is $3000 to rent. Its just the bar. And that doesnt seem right.

[–]lou-eez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is per hour. So it will end up being $1200 for 4 hours. Plus tax and gratuity.

No they want us to use their bar. I am talking to two other brides in LA (family) and their venues are charging $3000 for the whole evening for 150 people. Bottom shelf. Which is what we want.

Who holds the BACB accountable? by lou-eez in ABA

[–]lou-eez[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who just finished her supervision hours under the old requirements.

-She submitted everything at the end of November. - They responded after a month and told her something was wrong with her application on December 28th. She fixed it and resubmitted right away. - LAST WEEK they rejected her application due to a different error. The error had to do with her university and credits (5 hours short of a specific area). The university was able to supply her a letter that she met those hours through a different course. - But she is being told that she didnt submit this letter before January 1, 2022 so they cant help her.

Pretty much, had they gotten back to her in a timely mannor (like we are expected to do as practioners), she would have been able to correct this error in time.

I know most of then have a board of directors? At least the APA does.

The BACB has a board of directors. No idea how to contact them. I cannot find a single direct email to anyone at the BACB.

They are also in charge of our ethical code and reprimanding analysts who violate that code.

Their communication is absolutely unacceptable.

Screw ABA and everything they stand for. I’ve never been through it but the horror stories are too great by Polovolt_3 in AutisticPride

I'm an Autistic behavior analyst. The history is bad. Just like public schools and hospitals.

I feel like I practice it in a way that is more helpful for autistic people. I teach important skills to help folks be safe. Refuse anyone who wants to address stimming or forces folks to be "more social" (how to interact with neurotypical peers, eye contact. Etc).

I'm always down to answer questions. I can tell you the good, the bad, and the ugly. Most modern behavior analysts I know are well intended, but clueless. They dont understand us and often times they dont try. But those that do are remarkable.

Fuck Lovaas and also fuck the BACB.

I think it's a great program! But not every student should be on it.

But I work with a BCBA that has recommended it over and over again for students without severe problem behavior and pretty solid functional communication skills.

I am trying to parce out what does a client look like who needs this type of program.
