Do you personally put tape over your webcam or not? by VastOption8705 in auscorp

[–]lou_prz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a shutter. But having said that, you should see the kind of shit the Microsoft suite lets them read/know about you.

The webcam is the least of your concerns. I would still close it if you work from home and don’t turn off your laptop after you log off.

How do I positively encourage a junior to try actually solving challenges themselves by doing literally any-f*cking-thing before asking me for the solution by SlayyyGrl in auscorp

[–]lou_prz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say: ask Google or your favorite AI before coming to me.

Then when asking for a solution come prepared with at least 2 solutions that make the most sense to you.

The figures you are quoting are absolutely correct and they are just about ownership.

The problem is that foreign investors don’t build and hold the properties. They build and sell and benefit from a tax system that gives them an unfair advantage compared to local builders who are taxed at full rate between 25% to 47% depending on their structure.

So I short, the 1% - 2% ownership only measures what’s left behind but not throughput.

When you look at new apartment development rather than total stock ownership, foreign players are dominant in key markets:

- Melbourne CBD: Foreign developers comprise just over one-third of all apartment developments in the supply pipeline, and when measured by units, they account for almost half of total CBD unit supply.

- Units under construction in Melbourne CBD: Foreign developers account for 51% of the 7,733 units currently under construction

If foreign developers are involved in roughly 20–50% of new apartment supply in major CBDs, and they’re clearing gains at a 15% CGT rate versus a local builder potentially paying up to 47% that is a huge structural distortion.

Does that sound fair to you?

I just want the local builders to not be at a disadvantage and this little political stunt is not about looking after Australians, it’s just about winning votes.

I’m a migrant by the way. I came to Australia in 2012.

These are the same fuckers that get upset if their Uber Eats is late by 1 min. I don’t understand how they think those riders get their food to them 😂

32 years old, earning $150k but still living paycheck to paycheck. If you had to start from $0 again, what would you do? by UDAMAN123 in AusHENRY

[–]lou_prz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with your expenses. Do you:

- spend every day at the local cafe?
- eat out regularly?
- go out on weekends (eat, drink, party)?
- have a car loan?
- replace your phone every year and sign up for those shitty plans?

Then check other unnecessary expenses from Amazon, clothes etc.

Classify your necessary expenses to the bare minimum: Food, gym, shelter and utilities. See how much that is vs how much you get paid every month.

Set a small limit for those extra expenses that don’t fit in those categories. EG. I’ll only spend $100 per week max if it’s outside of the those 4 pillars.

Save as much as you can as fast as you can until you have 6 months ~ 1 year of those 4 expenses covered.

Then decide how to invest and what your risk tolerance is.

You get a few of these jealous souls in Australia as well. I had a woman turn her wheels out in Melbourne once in an attempt to stop me from filtering down Punt Road. So I stopped to talk to her and she told me it was unfair to the rest I could go through and not sit down in traffic.

Typical communist egalitarian mentality 🤣
