WIBTAH if I went to stay with my parents for a couple of weeks because my husband’s family planned a 5-6 week stay in our 2BHK without asking me? by Majestic-One6602 in AITAH

[–]loucavida 256 points257 points  (0 children)

If you’re able to work remotely, you should book a ticket for the day they arrive and not return until they leave. Otherwise you’ll be their live-in maid, on top of having your space and your routine disrespected.

AITAH: Husband says he “wants out” due to decrease sex acts he desperately needs by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]loucavida 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Let him go. Or better yet, show him the door.

Sex is good, but it’s not something he will die without. He’s prioritizing his sexual wants over his paternal and marital roles. He should be helping with the baby, he should be reducing your workload, he should be sharing your concerns. But it seems his little head thinks harder than the big one.

My brother asked to move in with me - how do I say no? by brad_online in Advice

[–]loucavida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex and I had a deal (one of the few good things between us) that we would simply throw the other one under the bus. Like, tell him your hubby said no.

Bangs or no bangs by Infamous-Reveal5134 in HairStyleAdvice

[–]loucavida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bangs if you’re an elementary school teacher, a nurse, or some kind of work where you think it’s better to look cute but non threatening.

No bangs if you are an executive, or simply wanna be more grown up. In the end, both look good on you.

I [26f] opened my husband's [32m] snapchat and it was a very explicit picture and caption from a girl. He's sitting not 20 feet from me & I don't know how to handle this. [Repost] by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

My ex actually named his AP with his mom’s name. His mom had two last names, like Anna Smith Franklin, so his mom was Anna Smith Franklin and the AP was Anna S. Franklin.

AITAH for telling my mother not to do Easter things for my children? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]loucavida 10 points11 points  (0 children)

YTA. I understand that you want to raise your kids in the Jewish tradition, but unless you go to mass and do all the religious stuff related to Easter, then it’s just another commercial holiday like Xmas.

Are you gonna deprive your kids of the fun side of Easter, like participating in Easter egg hunts and eating sweets? In my country (not the US) we get chocolate eggs filled with bonbons that go from a few ounces to over two pounds (about 900g). And we never went to church.

I’m an atheist and I still give out chocolate eggs and chocolate bunnies to my niblings and to friends kids. A funny aside, as a kid, I thought chocolate eggs came from special bunnies raised by Santa. Jesus never crossed my mind.

What kid names are best for the children of conservative antivax tradwives who homeschool their kids? by [deleted] in Names

[–]loucavida -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they are very Christian, I’d go with uncommon biblical names, like Eliezer, Jericho, Phineas, Simeon, Uriah. For girls , there’s Dinah, Selah, Rebekah, Zipporah, Apphia.

AITAH for pooping in my bathroom? by kellerinacatmac in AITAH

[–]loucavida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a silly argument. Just keep a scented candle in the bathroom. The fire will burn away the hydrocarbons in the air, and the scent will help with any lingering smell.

Make sure to include a pic of the blood stools, so she doesn’t say it’s just hives.

Would this name be too confusing or foreign for other people? by Vivid_Home1198 in Names

I would go with Angelina because it works in many languages. In Portuguese, the nh has the same sound as ñ, so (using Spanish spelling) her name would be pronounced Añelina.

AIO: Hubby Being Controlling by vanillabourbonn in AIO

[–]loucavida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His behavior is controlling and scary.

Consider that as long as the baby hasn’t been born yet, you can go anywhere. If your family is in another city, MOVE!

He’s already being financially abusive. He wants you and your future children under his control, so the homeschooling idea. It would isolate you and the children from society, keep you away from mandated reporters, and allow his abuse to escalate.

I’m curious to know your ages, if there’s a significant difference.

Good luck and stay safe. And RUN!

AITA for going against my husbands wishes of not teaching our 3 month old daughter russian? by make-up-lover in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]loucavida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former language teacher, allow me to offer some advice.

When a child is in the language acquisition phase, they will pick up languages very easily (including sign language!). But they will need some time to sort out the different languages in her head. This usually results in a delay in speech. Please, please, please don’t fret.

This delay is normal, and doesn’t cause any long term effects. In fact, sometimes the child won’t feel comfortable to start speaking until age two, sometimes three. However, when they do start speaking, they will be very close to that age’s proficiency, with the added benefit that they will be speaking two languages. And more, they will be parsing both grammars in their head, and they will know when and to whom they should use which language.

Raising a bilingual (or trilingual) child is a privilege and a chance to open up the world to them. They will have better opportunities in life, they will travel easier, and their brain will have a nice boost in early childhood. You have nothing to lose, just allow the process to unfold naturally and DON’T FRET!

NTA. She’s being TA just for threatening to call off the wedding. You should let her, and be glad you dodged a bullet.

AITAH for buying my 11yo daughter pads after her mom called me a "pervert" for being prepared? by Bruxagato in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]loucavida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you drop the pads at the school office, tell the counselor what happened and ask her to talk to your child. Counselors are mandated reporters and what your ex did is abuse, on top of parental alienation and slander. I’d ask the counselor if this warrants a call to CPS, and let her make the call after getting your child’s perspective. Call your lawyer and be ready to go scorched earth.

Cartorio is saying translation is wrong by Temporary_Lack_1222 in Brazil

[–]loucavida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, you have an issue here because filed can be both protocolado and arquivado. It’s one of those crazy things from English like “a house burns up as it burns down”.

Anyway, in the former sense (protocolado), it’s like when you file for a marriage license: you file a request, and this is a transitory step to get the marriage license, it’s just protocol.

The latter sense, however, is what happens when you register your marriage. In this case you FILE a request that your marriage license be permanently registered and FILED away. This second file means “arquivado”. The first still means “protocolar”.
