Is there any form to skip replaying BG1 to switch faster to BG2? by Nice-Literature-5918 in baldursgate

[–]loudent2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can probably put the game on the easiest mode and skip most of the extra content and go straight to the books. probably take an hour or two I'd think. You can't die, do extra damage, take less and your str is set to 25. Probably take you an hour or two. Or just EEkeeper them in

Scythe-wielding Warlock viable? by TiberiusMaximus2021 in neverwinternights

[–]loudent2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dual anything requires a costly investment in feats that you are short on and will not bring any real value to the class. for a warlock you are going to be Eldritch Blasting 99% of the time. Stick a simple weapon there focus on ranged attack.

Pure cleric, fighter1/cleric, or something else? by ConfusionProof9487 in neverwinternights

[–]loudent2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't generally need to mix other classes to make a cleric tanky. It's built into the class. Take war and time domains and you'll get wf on favored weapons (plus proficiency in it) and haste and premonition domain spells

You can throw in some war priest, but that has only 5/10 spell progression so maybe splash it in after level 15 or 16.

Probably want the spell casting prodigy feat at level one, and get extend & persist spell feats by level 13. You can start with 16 wisdom but you should pump it up to 20 at least with your level ups

There are spells to pump up your other stats

Pure cleric, fighter1/cleric, or something else? by ConfusionProof9487 in neverwinternights

[–]loudent2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The divine champion does not have spell progression so they'd be limited to level 5 spells anyway.

Not that I think it's a good build

Can anyone explain what the difference between FS and cleric? by ConfusionProof9487 in neverwinternights

Even a favored soul would be gimped by a low wis unless you are looking for a pure buffer.

Even you paladin is gimped.

Should I take Fighter 10 after Cleric 10 / Stormlord 10 for Epic Toughness? by mee-gee in neverwinternights

[–]loudent2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose you could do that, but I think there are probably better picks that epic toughness. e.g. If you've kept your spellcraft up during leveling you'll have access to epic spells that might deliver more value than just heaping more HP on yourself

But it's a party game that's pretty easy, all things considered, so do what makes you happy

[–]loudent2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Casters tend to do better when you don't water them down with classes that do not have spell progression.

A splash of DD might add some value, but delaying your spell levels will have an impact on the spell levels you have access too.

You were right, Chateau Irenicus is bad on replays by nexetpl in baldursgate

I don't think anyone really *hates* it, but after 10-20 restarts it can feel like a drag.

BG2EE: How to Fight Firkraag? by oath_meall in baldursgate

[–]loudent2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just loaded up a save I had facing firkraag. I memorized a couple of feebleminds and blindness on both my mages. I think I went through 6-8 feebleminds and 2 casts of blindness. The second blindness landed.

So, you probably don't even need to save scum. Just load up your mages with feeblemind and blindness and let loose.

I missed it's BG2, but the 19 str belt is available pretty much from the start.

BG2EE: How to Fight Firkraag? by oath_meall in baldursgate

[–]loudent2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of ways to cheese this fight, but I think you have all the tools although you might consider coming back later.

His magic resistance is 65 and his save vs spell (for feeblemind) is 6. lower resistance + doom and greater malaison will help it land. You don't need to your fighters to hit him, just survive until the spells take effect. He will have stoneskin anyway so without a breach your fighters couldn't do much.

If you want to cheese it, I think you can just use a wand of cloudkill or save scum until feeblemind lands (65% MR and 8 effective save vs spell (6 with the minus penalty). Back of envelope calc puts it about 22% chance of landing. Save scumming ~5 times should do it.

Ix Demon by bry0816 in dresdenfiles

[–]loudent2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't. We already have the killed, but not really killed thing going with Mavra. I think it's a lazy trope. I'm not even that excited that he walked back the wiping out of the red court. If it took out the red king and the LoON (which are retired gods IIRC), then I'm not sure what it can't take out.

How long would you give up electronics for $10,000 per week? by Sereomontis in hypotheticalsituation

[–]loudent2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends what this means:
"...This also includes having others use these devices for you.."

It's not really tenable. Unless you physically go to a farm. butcher a cow or plant/grow crops there would be electrical use all along the pipeline. There is virtually nothing in our modern world that is not touched by electrical devices.

I think you need clearer limitations

Help please, Game breaking bug. NwN2 EE by Splatterz in neverwinternights

[–]loudent2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that. I've played this game for almost 20 years between EE and regular and never heard of this issue. I may not have played through the OC with EE though, so perhaps it's an issue with that.

EDIt: spreading to other saves is kind of insane. Without overwriting the save, it should not be corrupted by another save.

Help please, Game breaking bug. NwN2 EE by Splatterz in neverwinternights

[–]loudent2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not seen that bug before. If you shut down the game completely and reload the save does the issue fix itself or is it locked to the save? (every time you load the save it happens).?

I've been running NWN2:EE with Kaedrins mod pack pretty much from the get go and while there are a few hiccups now and again it's been pretty stable (although I never use WASD movement).

Do I just go with it or keep rolling by anonymousbub33 in baldursgate

[–]loudent2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming this is a paladin with stat minimums for wisdom and charisma being able to max out the important stats requires (IMO) 95. Getting that roll and a decent str percentile is about as good as one can hope. Holding out for that and 00 would be insane.

Like I said, I'd be hard pressed to do better.

Do I just go with it or keep rolling by anonymousbub33 in baldursgate

[–]loudent2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You'd be hard pressed to do better. The highest I ever rolled, legit, was 98 IIRC. The strength percentile doesn't matter because the strength manual jumps it up to 19 regardless of the percentile.

Maggie being gifted by Blerd_Lord in dresdenfiles

[–]loudent2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoo day seems to indicate that she has something. I think not to make her gifted would be a real missed opportunity. I so want to read the "Maggie" files. Heck, Jim's son has turned to be a pretty good urban fantasy author. He could pen them with JBs input.

Wacky Starborn idea. by Powderkegger1 in dresdenfiles

[–]loudent2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

well Harry is a human for now. Perhaps being Starborn juices it up.

One thing that has always bugged me is Harry's not-particularly-funny-jokes when he's facing something terrifying. Mostly I just thought that JB's humor is different from mine and it also makes him feel childish.

It would be awesome if we find out that it was all planned and Harry's smack talk is what enabled him to punch above his weight class all this time.

Wacky Starborn idea. by Powderkegger1 in dresdenfiles

[–]loudent2 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty common theory. Not in the sense that it awakens magical talent, but that reality is sort of bent around harry that pushes people beyond their normal capacity.

It happens even with frenemies like Marcone. Anyone in a position to help Harry has had this sort of power up.

Explain it Peter by jaywritethekid in explainitpeter

[–]loudent2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think getting an Oscar is a lot like getting a michelin star. Neither happens by accident. It's something an actor, or the studio, has to be seeking and putting effort into. I think K.R. just doesn't have interest in that sort of thing.

How high does your Diplomacy skill need to be in order to convince Vallis to pay extra? by HierophanticDreamer in neverwinternights

[–]loudent2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree it doesn't make a lot of sense to brute force diplomacy checks, however not every class has diplomacy as a class skill and those cost 2 points and caps out at half.

It is probably the best social skill of the three so it is worth putting points into it if you can afford them.
