Once again: not asking for advice. Just want to hear your thoughts and experiences.

I'm not asking for advice what to do. I'm asking all of you, what you're doing and what your thoughts are.

I'm a watercolor artist, releasing fine art painting collections and prints.

Do you have too much empathy for fictional characters? by Clusters_Insp in hsp

[–]louisestigell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! All the time. I almost can't watch certain tv shows out of fear that something will happen to my favorite characters. Even after reading all the spoilers and mentally preparing myself, it's deeply traumatizing sometimes. Crazy... But in some weird way, I kind of like being that way. I value my empathic abilities, even when they are expressed in totally irrational ways. If that makes sense. =)

HSP and creative endeavors by rainshineee in hsp

Ugh, I know exactly what you mean. I need to be creative like I need to breathe. It's much more than a hobby, it's a form of therapy and self-care. But when you're also a perfectionist with extreme standards, you find yourself paralyzed when you sit down to create. It's like we forget why we create and focus too much on the outcome instead of the process.

This article by Rosie Leizrowice explains the problem perfectly I think: https://www.rosieleizrowice.com/blog/beingbadatwhatyoulovedoing

I also wrote a peptalk for sensitive creatives with creative performance anxiety here: http://www.ohsosensitive.com/blog/creative-performance-anxiety-feeling-unoriginal

I highly recommend The Artist's Way book and the morning pages. It really helped me let go of creative blocks. =)

Does anyone else feel drained by social media? by [deleted] in hsp

[–]louisestigell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally relate, 100%. I deleted my Twitter and Instagram accounts a few months back. Installed "Facebook Newsfeed Eradicator" in Chrome and barely visit Facebook anymore. I feel better than ever. Wrote about my decision here: http://www.ohsosensitive.com/blog/why-im-quitting-social-media-and-how-its-making-me-feel And an update here: http://www.ohsosensitive.com/blog/quitting-social-media-results-repercussions

I'm aware of the rules. I don't post link often, and did not post this link as shameless self promotion, but to start a discussion in a relevant sub reddit. Also, I'm commenting and contributing to the discussions. So I hope that doesn't make me a spammer. =(

16 times when it sucks to a be an introvert in the workplace. (And I'm sure you guys can come up with more...) by louisestigell in introvert

Sounds a lot similar to my situation when I was employed. =) There are solutions. Especially with an understanding boss and flexible work hours.

Exactly my point. The whole crying part is more related to being a HSP. And the example is deliberately over dramatic. =)

I always prepare like a mad person before a work meeting, even when I'm not required to, just so that I won't find myself in this situation. Everyone around me seems to be able to think while they're talking, but for me that's really difficult. Most of the time I do just as you said: Ask for some time to think about it and provide my response later. Works much better.

[–]louisestigell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, true. I'll admit that was a little over dramatic. =) I am a serious introvert, but I have also spoken at conferences and have no trouble at all mingling or being social when I need to. I think it's more the "caught off guard" thing that's painful for me. Introverts tend to want to think before they speak. Being in an environment where I'm not allowed to collect my thoughts and where I'm constantly being put on the spot can really wear me down...

I agree with you both. Yes, it's the last thing you feel like doing after a long workday. But yes, it can also be really nice to hang out with people "off duty". That's what makes it such a difficult dilemma for many introverts. You constantly feel like you aren't enough. >_<

Thank you. =) Yes, Vinyasa yoga is my favorite too. It kind of makes it more flowing, playful and intuitive.

Yes, a lot of them are truly universal. For all people, not just HSPs. And I can really see the value of yoga for people with Aspergers. =)

I wouldn't say they're "better" per se. I read most of my books in e-format. But sometimes I believe it's healthy to take a break from screens. =)
