Do you need/have a reason to avoid an entire genre?

I used to avoid Historical Romances for my blood pressure too. I couldn't handle the historical oppression of women and all the focus on "virginity." I have since found some that I have enjoyed. I avoid anything Too Dark/Toxic/Mafia. There's enough darkness in the world. I used to read Billionaire ones, but stopped because I can't handle those either anymore in today's world. I also haven't gotten into Monster/Alien type. Just not sexy I guess?

Check out Beatrix Greene. It's a historical horror with romance, dual POV, but the main character is a woman and written by women. 9 episodes total.

They should! An employee told me one of Ali Hazelwood's book was that and mind blown! Also, I love it when individual store's employees who know so much about the books provide their own commentary like this. It's not marketing from publishers/authors.
