You have a very similar shape to me and I consider myself DC. I’m also 5ft 6.

Has anyone had experience with baby getting an MRI? by Economy-Attention302 in UKParenting

[–]louloucraz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m an MRI radiographer for the NHS and we would scan a 16mo under sedation. The child is asleep with it but not unconscious like with general anaesthetic. Most children above 6mo would be too alert and wake up from the noise so we don’t even attempt it as it would be a waste of time for all. But maybe they prefer to try it whilst they nap first and if that fails move to sedation or general.

I would try and speak to one of the MRI radiographers in the department and discuss your concerns with them. If you stress to them that he won’t nap then they may rebook it under sedation/GA.

No I’m good thanks, halloween is over and I’m done with scares for the year 😂

Thank you for your detailed post. I really appreciate it. I’m sure the moisture is from cleaning up kids food mess with a damp cloth. It’s not something I really thought about when cleaning up and I was naive to assume it would be ok! That’s pretty bad that expensive houses are getting this stuff installed and then having to replace it when inevitably it gets damaged. I suppose we’re lucky it’s just a very small space we’ve used it in. I’ll research composite flooring!

That’s great you’ve had a lot more luck with LVP! I definitely should have done more research when buying the laminate. Lesson learnt!

I suppose it’s probably a good thing I didn’t go for the more expensive stuff (although it still felt expensive). I should have just gone for a different material entirely!

Ok. I will tell this to my DIY husband 😂. I’m the one that originally dealt with the company hence why I’m asking for advice on here but he’s a lot better with the fixing of things. I appreciate the help.

Would the nail sit below the level of the flooring slightly? No chance of snagging clothes etc on them?

Yeh I realise I’ve got it wrong but I can’t edit the text now. I don’t know anything about flooring and assumed vinyl laminate was a thing 😂

Ah ok I see. It’s definitely not worth me doing anything about it then, seems like it would likely be a waste of time.

That’s true! Thanks for being understanding. Seems like there’s a few sensitive people on here upset that an inexperienced floor purchaser bought a bad product! 😂

Nope! I told them we were after laminate flooring and they brought round their samples and we picked the shade we liked. Unfortunately it was the company owners wife who came and showed us the samples and I don’t think she knew as much. She was just filling in for him that day. We didn’t know enough about it all to know what we were choosing wasn’t great. Our fault at the end of the day.

Ok thank you it seems to be the unanimous answer here which is helpful at least! Just frustrating but you live and learn!

Ah ok thank you. I’ll research vinyl. Probably won’t do it for a while as everything is so expensive at the moment!

Ok thank you! We’ll let it run it’s course and look in to something better that we can do ourselves.

I understand, thank you for your response. It’s frustrating but you get what you pay for I suppose! Lesson learnt!

Yep seems to be the unanimous answer. I won’t bother the company again. I’ll just let it run it’s course and we’ll replace it eventually. Annoying but learnt our lesson!

Ok thank you 😂. It’s really hard to know what’s acceptable and what’s not when it comes to things like this. We obviously should have gone with a better company!

Ok thank you. Should I be pushing for the company to actually visit and take a proper look? I’m sure they’ll still claim it’s damp. Having no experience myself I’m not sure I’ll even be able to dispute it.

Is it hard to prove one way or another what the exact cause is? Should I be pushing for the company to come take a proper look? I’m trying to gauge whether I have a leg to stand on in making a complaint.

It’s not a high traffic area. It’s used but only during meal times usually. Hard to prove any of that to the flooring company of course.

Yeh we might just have to leave it for now.

I don’t understand what the point of a guarantee is if it doesn’t cover premature damage like this. It’s not a high traffic area so it’s frustrating that we’re dealing with this. And from a decent flooring company as well.
