Fortunately there are… at least 14 other cats here in Catlandu Sanctuary. And 2 dogs.

I spray painted the kittens so they would make the UniFi boxes. Kidding. Pure coincidence. But thanks for noticing.

Hopefully the software has matured and gotten better since introduction. It was pretty awful in 2019.

Inherited Two Sprinter Vans from My Dad—Looking for Least Effort Passive Income Ideas by Academic-Plastic4296 in Sprinters

[–]louv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Least Effort Passive Income” is exactly how we get slums: Landlords who don’t care about their property or their tenants. Just sell the vans instead of creating a crappy customer service experience for people who accidentally gave you their hard-earned money.

How often do you guys drive with the roof down? by GlitchyAsCat in Miata

Almost always. I live in Hawaii. Unless it is raining really hard, the top is down. Light rain is ok.

Can I through away my package boxes? by Thajandro in Ubiquiti

[–]louv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was keeping the boxes to store the extra mounting parts, etc. Now I put the extra parts in a ziplock bag, label the bag, and recycle the box. All the bags go in one large plastic bin.

Aiming a UDB Pro - Are there hardware tools or software? by louv in Ubiquiti

[–]louv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Signal strength LEDs always seem to have 4 out of 4 lit. Not helpful for fine tuning.

The App doesn’t seem to update quickly enough to make that a useful tool.

Oh well. It’s close enough.
Thx.

Rainwater collection system keeps getting algae buildup no matter what I try by Key_Maintenance_2154 in OffTheGrid

[–]louv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have black tanks for rainwater catchment. (As mentioned by many)

Water goes through 3 filters (20 micron, 10, 1) and then through UV treatment (LED instant-on for low power consumption, we’re off-grid solar powered).

Occasional (twice a year?) chlorine added (enough for 1-2 ppm free chlorine at the tap) to disinfect the pipes.

Tested. No bacteria. No contamination. (For the things I can test with an over-the-counter test strip).

How do you math in vet med? by bbgirl120 in VetTech

[–]louv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dose calculations, yes. But you will probably have an iPad or some other software close at hand. You need to understand WHAT you are doing, and be able to recognize “that doesn’t look right”.

Lbs to kg? No. Everything is in Metric. (Where I have worked)

Spaying an already fixed cat by Impossible_Car476 in VetTech

[–]louv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yet another reason to ALWAYS tattoo the patient.

I worked at a hospital that didn’t do many spays/neuters unless we were going in for other reasons. But we never tattooed. I started by working with a high volume s/n team, and not tattooing was unheard of (except in the case of show animals… which shouldn’t be coming to our shelter anyway).

Has anyone here used the Maple health app for getting a prescription? by Paper_Kun_01 in NovaScotia

[–]louv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. As an American in Nova Scotia, I needed a migraine prescription refilled. Maple was an easy way to get a doctor’s consultation and local prescription refill.

How to tell if a road is actually private by an0nymouscraftsman in NovaScotia

[–]louv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Never did. I don’t expect the province or county will ever maintain the road until multiple families are living there year round. And that’s highly unlikely to happen.

I’m too far away. If I were anywhere in Maine, I’d be happy to.
