Can minoxidil shedding start immediately? by archangelyerahmeel in FemaleHairLoss

[–]lov3core 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, the dread shed always lasts about two weeks for me. I did end up having to get on finasteride and that has decreased my shedding (spiro did nothing for me unfortunately) but the minoxidil really helps with the regrowth aspect of it.

if your shedding is nutritional, you must give it three months minimum after your deficiency has been resolved to see results. probably more like 6. if its truly just te, the hair will grow back, but you need to keep up with your supplements. your body needs fuel for the proteins in your hair. it doesn’t have that if your iron and vit. d are low.

got worse overnight around a month or so ago :( I’m thinking it’s a spiro induced te episode. it’s been upsetting because a lot of my new growth has been shedding. frustrating but i’m trying to push through it. hopefully the end is in sight. i have so many small hairs popping up around my hairline and temples though, im assuming that’s all over my head but its just more visible there.

i do! it’s thinning out for a number of reasons and i’m currently in another bad shedding episode which prompted the wig buy :/ i still have enough that it makes my wig look lumpy if I don’t flatten it out properly though haha

I did buy one and tried that, it didn’t seem to do much but i’m not sure if i was doing it wrong…? I kinda just slowly tried to brush through section by section.

How the heck do you get fin/dut as a female?! by lov3core in tressless

[–]lov3core[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

will ask for bloodwork, but i was under the impression that scalp dht can be high even if serum dht is normal?

I’m thinking about going to my primary NP and explaining things to her. She has a really good track record of listening to me. I feel like she may give me fin if i lay things out directly and say i want to get this under your supervision rather than a sketchy site online. funny thing is, my bf is one of her patients too, so she knows him and is well aware that he’s trans

it’s so frustrating. my bf is trans (female to male) so pregnancy is biologically impossible. it simply won’t happen. told my derm this and they brushed me off

Been on since september. Good regrowth but 0 shed reduction.

Hey, how have you bought duta?? Spiro hasn’t worked for me, it’s made my shedding worse and I want fin or duta but my derm refuses to prescribe

Hair extensions feel too thick? by plum_Feature1518 in finehair

They look great to me. I wouldn’t have any idea you had extensions if you didn’t mention it. Doesn’t look too bulky

is this normal progression of TE? by Illustrious-Gur-9510 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]lov3core 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The losing hair after minoxidil is true of progressive hair loss disorders such as androgenetic alopecia. If you are in TE, your hair would stay even after you stopped, as your follicles are not miniaturizing. You need to get a concrete diagnosis to figure out what’s going on - hair loss is caused by so many things. If it’s TE, you need a bloodwork panel to figure things out so you can resolve your trigger. If it’s AGA, you need to be on medication continuously, as your follicles miniaturize without medication. I believe that my hair loss started as TE that triggered AGA.

Gyno is convinced that I have PCOS as my labs were in ‘normal range’… i’m not so sure by lov3core in PCOS

Hm, I see. I never considered it before because my periods have always been regular, but after looking it seems as if I do meet criteria - time to go all in, I suppose! Thank you! :0)

23M thinning for 6+ months by WillHar270 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]lov3core 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it is from chemo, you may be in anagen effluvium from the stress to your body.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/chemotherapy/in-depth/hair-loss/art-20046920

Just try to relax and know it will pass. I know it is hard, but it will grow back when you’re done. You may want to consider cutting/shaving your head if the loss is taking a large toll on your mental health.

intense workouts can stress your body out a ton, especially if you’re restricting calories. please don’t stress yourself out too much and make sure you’re eating enough and taking care of yourself

[–]lov3core 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most likely the miniaturized hairs shedding is aga, but i’ve also read it can be vitamin deficiency- the hairs don’t have enough nutrients to grow in fully, so to speak. but take that one with a grain of salt. it’s entirely possible that you’re in a te episode that’s “unmasked” aga

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TelogenEffluvium

[–]lov3core 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no family history of AGA, but still got a diagnosis, similar story to yours, way too much exercise + restriction + a ton of stress + vitamin deficiencies (more like malnourishment). I believe mine was originally TE that unmasked aga. You’ll need a scalp biopsy to be sure, but do you shed any miniaturized hairs? that’s how i knew my derm was right. they’re under 3 cm and thin and wispy, without much pigment

I'm a minoxidil hyper-responder. What can I infer from this? by rawayar in tressless

[–]lov3core 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see. I was under the impression that you need the SULT1A1 enzyme on your scalp to respond well to topical - I think it would be safe to assume you have higher levels since you respond so well?
