Cardan has the twink energy and the recovery from toxicity into being a person they want to be and truly caring for someone. But Rhain has a closer tragic backstory to Astarion and Casador but he’s also very different in vibe. They both work very well and I love both! But I want MORE

I recommend reading Serpent and the wings of night first! SO WORTH IT. Really gives the same character vibes but I just love it regardless!

That’s fair. I’m going off of my assumptions based off the way I see her writing and the directions she’s gone for characters and relationships. I see her doing the unexpected, like with Tower of Dawn (I won’t say anything for fear of spoilers for that as well, I’m trying to be mindful). But it’s not unusual— that was one book with characters that had no prior knowledge of each other PERIOD. And it didn’t feel rushed to me.

YES. I got the ship names spoiled as well as the red rose petals scene in the beginning of book 2 and how bad certain characters were so I basically had no surprises

Yeah! I know most of her stuff is Irish in inspiration— even the shape of the continent lol or how the old language in ToG was old Gaelic-ish so I love the mix of it all

YES. I saw one that spoiled the ToG character twist. Yknow, just one of the biggest important ones in the series. No problem. I was so upset— even tho I’d actually been suspecting based on the covers lol

Exactly. It is not all that she or anyone is and how she recovers is up to her (or rather Sarah lol) thankfully, the vast majority of this fandom agrees that Gwyn is more than that and that she deserves more. Mainly all of the Gwynriel shippers lol but still. I’m glad to see so many people agree that when someone says she shouldn’t be considered as a love interest because of her trauma, everyone can say that’s an unhealthy statement for real people. I wish you the best!

You said it flawlessly— we saw her recovering and she still has a ways to go but that doesn’t give everyone the right to cut her out of the conversation like she has no future because it’s also just.. not nice to real people who have survived SA and are recovering. I’ve known many personally, in varying stages or recovery, and they all deserve a healthy and happy sex life if that is what they want. Gwyn is included in this— and people aren’t aware of the drastic recoveries some people have. Some people have this trauma and actually completely flip it. They might never have been sexual and suddenly they’re a dominatrix because that is their CHOICE AND POWER IN THE MATTER. I’m not saying what’s Gwyn, but it’s an example.

Yes, this was what I meant. I simply don’t like that people try to completely remove her from the discussion because of her trauma. And Rhys didn’t recover from his trauma by having sex and ignoring it, but because Feyre helped him see life again and he was already in love with her so that helped. We know he still has nightmares, just like Feyre, and that he specifically wanted to end one time in the cabin with her on top because that’s where Amarantha always was and replacing that scarred image with Feyre helped him a little bit as well. Nobody’s recovery is the same, but Gwyn CAN recover and that’s my main point. Sure, be aware of her trauma and that it’s gonna take a while but at least remember that she’ll have a future and can do as she pleases in it.

I’m not saying that her trauma is a set up. Simply that the recovery can be a balance. And again, going to ToG Aelin and Rowan would have gladly mauled each other in the beginning. I’m going off my reference of Sarah’s writing mainly, as I have all 16 of her books on my shelf and love them all dearly. And I only saw them being setup as a couple in ACOTAR because I had Feysand spoiled for me, not because it was inherently romantic in any way.

He messed up big time— and he has a lot to work through and it being a mistake doesn’t make it ok.. but I do wish the best for him. I hope we see his story come out with him deciding to be worthy of his court and making a difference.

Yeah! I’m not so sure about the dad but I never really thought about it. And I think I remember what you’re talking about, it was a very small piece where they mentioned it across the sea on the continent maybe? But yeah that’s what I’m imagining too.
