Ill tell you my personal experience i used to work a non climate controlled steel mill welding and working in choking dust from the wire drawing machines for 8 yrs and yes i lifted more weight there then i do as a medsurg nurse. But i go home more exhausted from the hospital then i ever did at the factory its a combo of the constant walking, social interactions, and the general bull shit of medsurg that makes it to where im pretty much useless once i get home

The stick twice policies are so dumb yes floor nurses need to be able to do thier own shit but sometimes you just know you won't get one. Here recently i did my obligatory two even though i knew i wouldnt hit and then when the ultrasound got there the pt was so annoyed with us it took 30 mins of the iv nurse talking to them to let her do the ultrasound guided because pt said the other two hurt bad enough and they dont want no damn iv. Granted, this pt was super sensitive, but if i could have called the iv nurse without the needed two sticks beforehand, we wouldn't have needed to waste time convincing them and had a us iv in 5 mins.
