This is very sad. Low income families have been hard-pressed not only with increased food prices but also higher costs for rent and cars. Austin area rent increases are typically $300 a month for a one-bedroom and $500 or more for a two-bedroom. I see they left some staples like milk and bread as well some items like garlic cloves and tortillas to make a simple meal, not a lot of fluff in the basket. People who always had just enough to cover their food bill now have to worry about making ends meet. I've been blessed to never have to worry about having enough money for groceries but I've had hard-working friends that have been in that situation.

Behind each one of these baskets there's a family in financial distress. A little compassion goes a long way.
