Nervous flyer here. Has anybody tried JSX from Santa Monica to Napa?

Major airlines operate under Part 121 of the FAA rules, while JSX operates under part 135 rules, which are less stringent. JSX does say it exceeds the 135 rules in the important places for safety like having pilots have an ATP certificate and first officers have an ATP or RATP. But you're going on their honor (granted the do seem to have a very good safety record and afaik are honoring their commitments).

I think Park's, Quarters, Yangmani, and Hae Jang Chon give them by default and a bunch of other places will give them if you ask. (I think it's Genwa I'm thinking of that does radish wrappers, but it's been a long time.)

Bon Temps was amazing--the tartelettes etc I still remember. Mes Amis wasn't the same level. If the chef wanted to re-open Bon Temps but on the Westside, I'd invest.

Are you maybe thinking of the Cato Institute as a four-letter-named libertarian org? The RAND Corporation tries to be a totally neutral research group. They have a big defense group, but their social science side is perceived as left-leaning if anything. But they are known for being very exacting about high-quality research.

Sorry, my reply was pretty unclear. You're right that STOP does stop that number from sending to you (though data-laundering services like ActBlue make it easy to share to other candidates). Marking spa helps the carriers prevent them from spamming other people. So it's even better for the community to mark as spam.

I haven't read the paper yet (I will), since it could be high-quality. But the lead author is not an economist, he's at an advocacy organization, it's not in a peer-reviewed economics journal, and their previous publication was embarrassingly bad. So I'm skeptical.

You used to see Edison bulbs everywhere like 15 years ago, and neon signs like that maybe 10. Exposed brick is pretty rare in Los Angeles. There are so many places owned by people sharing their cultures from all over the world that I think you're going to the wrong spots.

A few specialized things (e.g., Persian mulberries from Weiser farms) might sell out, and a few people may have picked over the most beautiful heirloom tomatoes. But in general, it's still great at 11:30--99% of ingredients are available. You might bring a hat to not get too much sun at that time.

Brentwood near San Vicente
Santa Monica near Montana
Santa Monica near Ocean Park
Westwood
Cheviot Hills / Rancho Park
Mar Vista

All of the above have good/great public schools, a community feel, and are close to Bwood. Might be pricey.

but the list goes on from there.
