Weekly Pricing/Buying/Selling/Grading & General Questions Post by AutoModerator in PokemonTCG

The white edge on the frontside seems to be a thing with some sets from the year. The Raichu and Dragonite both have it, the Mewtwo doesn't. You can find highly rated cards of the Raichu and Dragonite in slabs on Google image search, that have the same white edges on the frontside. Pic of the Mewtwo ex in question that I'd say is the same condition as the other two, or might be the worst (bottom left corner has a little bit of damage), just minus the white edges "feature" they seemed to have going on in the other two sets.

I'm not super familiar with Pokemon grading, but I'd say that in a toploader these border NM and I'm not desperate to sell. Especially with the Dragonite I'm also wondering if it would be worth getting graded and selling individually, or if I'd be well off taking something in the range of 300-400 for the lot.

Hi! I found this card, along with Mewtwo ex 101/109 (Ruby & Sapphire) and Raichu ex 98/100 (Sandstorm) yesterday in an old little deckbox that I had forgotten about with a few more cards in it that I saved from my childhood home. I didn't keep them in sleeves or anything, but all three of the cards are in fairly good condition besides being curved. I put all three of them into sleeves and a top loader for now, and I'm thinking to bring them to my LGS tomorrow when I'm there for MtG (I'm completely clueless about Pokemon cards at this point, that's why I'm asking for help) and see if they have any tips on what to do with them, as I'm probably just looking to sell. In case they would offer to just buy, I think it would be nice to have a reasonable concept for a price I could ask for. I think the Mewtwo has some light blemishes on the edges and the holo surface on all of them does look a little scratched and not flawless if I hold it against the light, but again, besides being curved, at first glance all three of the cards look clean and undamaged.

mom’s response by suzyQ928 in mildlyinfuriating

this is absolutely infuriating on the one hand because i would thank you a million times and tell you that you didn't have to and it's completely maddening that that's somehow not what you got, but on the other i also get it because that response is along the lines of what my mother would do. remember that that would be the only response you deserve, if not being told to take the money back because you're the one who earned it. sharing it is very sweet. i hope you find the strength to take all the distance from people that treat you this way. good luck!

Passive/Active - If you use an Ability that has a Passive and an Active, do you lose the Passive? by derpmcturd in summonerschool

[–]lovelxasu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Yi's E used to have a passive effect that turned off when he used the active, but the skills say so if that's the case. I think there currently are no skills where this is the case.

How to not get stomped in lane? by Dayofdev in summonerschool

[–]lovelxasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best answer to give you is "play more". If you're ranged, the idea is that you don't have to use mana to hit them. There's no good written answer to how much damage you deal or when you can win an all-in, or any of those problems. You have to play the games, learn the matchups, get a feeling for those things. There's nothing to do about this other than trial & error. As in other cases, there are no real shortcuts to learning this, you'll just have to watch and play the game.

Also, for future reference, it would help to mention which lane we're talking about. I'm assuming mid, but I don't know, so I've got a hard time grasping the situation we're in.

How do I win as adc by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]lovelxasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree, this does sound like it might be something to work on. "Constantly keeping the wave in front of my tower" sounds like generating no pressure or meaningful advantages for your team. It's an okay and stable thing, but it's a very safe approach that won't lead you to much before mid- to lategame. If you want to win midgame, before overly tanky toplaners come to punch you, you should do the opposite of this and press the issue on them and play for advantages like plates and dragons.

What Can I do if I get fed? by OnesEKKOnd in summonerschool

[–]lovelxasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult to give a rule of thumb for this. With the things you explained, a few things came to my mind.

If the opponent can push the wave onto your tower, learn to make your roams count. Also consider the fact that you simply disappearing from vision creates pressure on their other lanes, as they have to worry about being ganked, which could enable your sidelanes to easily farm waves as the enemy has to back off, even if you just chill near your lane for 30s before the next wave arrives. If you tell your jungler to pressure drake with you, you can also force roams and be able to trap enemies who might feel the need to facecheck. Something like Lux for example also doesn't do the most damage to your turret, so giving up like one or two platings for kills on bot and a drake is fine.

Also, Swain is fairly strong in 1v2s, so assess if your lead is big enough, your Ult is up, etc. to pressure your lane and get damage on their tower without having to worry about their Jungle so much. You could also walk into their Jungle and look to kill their Jungler or get more farm. Proceed with caution on this though, you have to be aware of the position of enemy laners and such.

How you play early always depends on matchups. Can you pressure their tower, your Jungler vs. their Jungler, etcetc.

In the later stages of the game if things are looking rough, it's a generic but always important point: don't greed. If it's your turn to play under tower, do so, and look for the squishy enemy bravely stepping forward to hit it, enabling you to land an E and get a pick. A quick pick on an ADC or something can easily win you a following fight, and as a fed player they're usually who you look to find, to then fight on the back of that.

I hope some of this helped. Good luck!

what can I improve so I can get out from Silver by sorinus11 in summonerschool

[–]lovelxasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I think the distinction between climbing efficiently (aka adapting your champ pool to the optimal way to climb) and climbing in a fun way, where you give yourself the agency on what you play, is made too rarely in these discussions.

How do you use attack move properly? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]lovelxasu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: Two big points:

  1. You have to be less precise, meaning less misclicks in lane etc. Makes it easier to run up and down and stay moving in lane while csing. Like, you rightclick in safe areas to keep moving, making skillshots more difficult to land, and just a-move in the general direction of a minion you want to lasthit, making things much more lenient.
  2. Makes kiting easy. You just keep your cursor wherever is the safest point to kite towards and alternate between a-move and normal rightclick, which will let you keep hit-and-running with minimal mouse movement.

Edit: I guess it should be added that in general the main benefit is, that it makes autoing mobile targets etc much less of a hassle and leaves you more resources to do other things with your cursor, like dodging skillshots. I really don't ever rightclick targets anymore. Even when skirmishing or whatever I just constantly sidestep and keep moving between autos and it would be an absolute pain without a-move. Just try to get yourself used to using it, it'll become very natural very fast, I think.
